Why don't actors like John Candy exist anymore?
>>
>>215527044
Hollywood died in the 1990s.
>>
he came from a different time where fat fucks had to be funny to be accepted. Fat acceptance made people like him no longer exist.

I wasn't necessarily talking about his comedic talent, but just his friendly down to earth nature, both in his roles and in real life. He just seemed like a regular guy and you don't see anything like that in Hollywood anymore.

He represented an average American that doesn't exist anymore.
>>
>>215527212

>>
>>215527044
Inside every actor is a depressed lardass.
>>
>>215527212
That’s because he was Canadian, and Canadians are civil. Americans are uncivil louts.
>>
didn't he die of coke or something?
>>
>>215527308
should have switched to pepsi
>>
>>215527308
The heat killed him while filming Blazing Saddles.
>>

>>
>>215527308
years of bad diet, being overweight, coke, stress and anxiety, then he did a western comedy out in the desert and the heat did him in

Americans aren’t the issue and never have been, it’s the yellow and brown deluge to shore up our pension system for the boomers. It’s over

It’s the result of social media. The actors that say mean shit on social media get all the attention and you never hear about the ones that say nice things or nothing at all and the era of big televised interviews with Barbara Walters or whoever is over. I remember when I was a little kid and Oprah interviewed Michael Jackson at his house and I couldn’t watch what I wanted to or play Nintendo because it was this huge event that my parents and brothers and sister had to watch and then everyone talked about it for weeks.
>>
>>215527044
they're not allowed to. haven't you noticed the total war declared on men, still ongoing
>>
>>215527156
People are fake as fuck.

Way before this documentary was made, I read Laughing on the Outside. It's the only biography written about Candy and it really sheds light on his struggles with weight. His dad passed away at age 35 and he was told to lose weight.

I lost 65 pounds thanks to corona shutdowns. It only took 10 months of dieting and walking everyday. Candy could've afforded to lost at least 70-80 pounds from the looks of it. But make no mistake, he was STRONG. People attest that he could lift quite well. He just lacked stamina.

Anyhow, you don't see earnest people anymore in entertainment. Remember Candy's speech in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles about "what you see is what you get". That was 100% Candy.

In some ways, it might have been a blessing that he did pass away in 1994. I'm not sure his career would've survived in the last 31 years. Look at his peers in the 80's; barring Bill Murray, I don't think anyone else really had major roles in the 2000's and 2010's.
>>
>>215528005
it was the 80s, everyone did cocaine back then
>>
>>215528005
I’m baffled when I meet an overweight cocaine or meth addict. Those are the two strongest diet drugs I’ve ever used, meth melts the fat off you, lost 5 lbs a week.

what >>215527616 said. I get the vibe that anyof the SCTV cast would be approachable and affable and otherwise great to have a beer with; Catherine O'Hara, Joe Flaherty, Rick Moranis, Dave Thomas, Andrea Martin, Martin Short and Eugene Levy all seem chill and friendly. Steve Martin as well. Also >>215528349

It’s not all Americans. Only MAGA americans. Legitimately the stupidest, crass, most immoral and degenerate part of the country, worse than any niggers or spics or jeets.
