A big part of that seems to be Spielberg deciding to change the ending of the movie at the last minute. It was all originally suppose to take place in the worker village, but then Bergy wanted the Rex to rampage in the city.
>>
>>215529246
I mean, that’s fine. But what a weird choppy way to get there
>>
I was in the peak of childhood, 11 years old when TLW came out and went to see it in theaters with my dad, and my best friend and his dad. I remember my dad running at me like a dinosaur outside of the theater, good times. I also remember all the toys at the time, my friend had the matchbox toys, I had the T-rex that made sounds and could bite with rubbery skin along with an RC car with a dilophosaurus that you could put water in, drive it around and make it spit out water at people
>>
>>215527746
To be fair, they didn't have a lot to work with. Crichton shit out the Lost World novel in like a year after JP was such a massive success and it was hot garbage. Whereas the first book is kino and some of the most memorable scenes in JP2 (like OP) are borrowed from it because the second book was so repetitive and uneventful.

>>
>>215530389
Schindler's List is the most baffling movie ever. To be rather simplistic, its like if Star Wars was two hours of the empire zipping around blowing up planets, with close ups of people screaming and being vaporized, and the rebels never actually rebel at all and take it like beaten dogs till the credits roll. Its only satisfying if you like Nazis, and that fetishism is an entirely separate subject.
>>
>>215528456
Those fuckers are strong. The hapless worker that gets mangled at the start gets hoisted off the ground like a toy.
>>
>>215529246
I get it, it's tempting to take the chance to do a little mini-Godzilla flick when you can, when else are you gonna get the chance to have a monster smashing up the city in your movies?

But it sure is weird and takes some bizarre leaps to get there. Especially when we already had a climax in getting off the island, the tranquilized Rex they see from the helicopter comes off more like a sequel hook, that this could lead to serious problems in the future, but then a second climax starts in the city and the film keeps going another twenty minutes

the most insane part is that the velociraptors on the boat seem to have only killed the crew as they're prepared to dock in LA, otherwise the ship would have just been adrift at sea in the middle of nowhere. unless they are also capable of navigating sea vessels and radioing in to the harbour master to coordinate their docking protocol

The various dinosaur scenes in Dominion were pretty cool, just being like little standalone segments. The actual rest of the film was absolute nonsense with nothing to do with dinos so it's easy to separate them.
>>
>>215533433
Sort of in 1, not by 3, and definitely by the end of Dominion

They're kinda just there to facilitate a few more dinosaur scenes really. The mosasaur and spinosaurs stalking their boat, the rex, and some of the running away from the mutant freaks during the climax. Plot wise they don't have much to do with anything.

>>215534195
They were on a boat that got attacked by the mosasaur. Fortunately after it capsized their boat it stopped attacking them and they got rescued by Scarjo and they ended up on the island with dinos.

They were on a small yacht and were taking a shortcut home when a Mosasaurus (followed around by a pack of Spinosaurus that eat its leftover prey) attacks their boat and capsizes it, the heroes rescue them. Then when the heroes' ship is run aground they're separated from the family and they just are off having their own dinosaur run-ins until the end when they meet up again. Really they just seem to be in the movie simply so they can have some more dinosaur action scenes, like adapting the T-Rex raft river attack from the first book, which is the Rex's only scene in the film since it has no plot role (and isn't the one from JP1 this time, just a random other Rex).

Why wouldn't they be able to swim?
>>
Hackberg deserves all the hate TLW gets. Leaving the ship crew's severed limbs left unexplained was beyond retard
>>
>>215538776
Why would they be able to swim? Swimming isn't a natural thing that all animals can somehow do. You don't look at an Elephant and think it can swim unless you have proof it somehow is capable of swimming. You're going to say a Brontosaurus can swim?
>>
>>215538879
You think a T-Rex and a Brontosaurus are the same physical shape and size?
>>
>>215538906
They're both giga huge why would they be able to swim? A T Rex doesn't even have arms. You're going to tell me an Ostrich can swim?
>>
>>215538943
you know what else are "giga huge"? whales
>>
>>215538879
T-Rex wouldn't even be the only theropod who could swim
>>
>>215538950
Yeah a marine animal that cannot exist on land can swim. That's where the similarities end. You are telling me a land animal of gargantuan size can swim? Why hasn't there been a single large land animal that is able to swim? Even ones with Therapod morphology like an Ostrich?

My point is we have zero proof that these animals can swim and to assume they can without evidence is dumb and gay.

You never saw any Dinosaurs swim in the original JP movies because they built moats to keep the dinosaurs from escaping. It's only new revisionist bullshit like Apple's Prehistoric Planet that feeds you the propaganda that they can not only swim but were fat fucks.

>The lawyer Geranno is actually a good guy who cares about saving the kids, the evil bad guy is Hammond's PR agent who gets eaten alive by a juvenile T-Rex in the convoy ambush scene where it plays with its food as he dies in agony
>The book is much clearer about what chaos theory is and why Ian Malcolm is being brought to the island as a mathematician
>The reason the dinos start reproducing and nobody knows is that the park had a set upper limit for dinos confirmed via video surveillance systems, there is a great scene where Malcolm predicts this error and they remove the arbitrary upper limit and start seeing how many dinosaurs actually are living on the island.
>Hammond is unambiguously the bad guy, even Nedry is sympathetic in comparison for how his boss treats him. Both get bad ends, Nedry's death is particularly scarier and more gruesome in the book
>Grant and the kids journey from the convoy ambush to the visitor center is completely different, involving them being chased on a river by the T-Rex the whole time also being attacked by pterosaurs and almost dilophosaurs
>Muldoon survives and there is a scene of him chugging scotch in a jeep while firing RPG-mounted tranq rounds at the T-Rex
>Henry Wu is a good guy and gets eaten by raptors, all the plot holes in the film are addressed by his character in the book (why they even made predators, why they didn't make the dinos docile petting zoo animals etc)
>there is a cut final act of them finding the raptor's nesting site in a sewer to confirm how many there actually are and trying to stop a ferry carrying raptors to the mainland so they can't reach it and reproduce

Hammond is a caricature of the evil greedy business man who will fuck you over for profit and it's made abundantly clear that he did in fact spare MANY expenses.
There's a passage where nedry reminisces how he got fucked by Hammond into this position where he would be ruined for life if he quit his job, while at the same time having the workload of several employees put on him over the years, yet still not making that much money.
I don't know why Spielberg tried to make Hammond the heckin wholesome grandaddy in the movie when in the books he comes across like a comic book villain.

Then again, he also converted Gennaro into his exact opposite and let Muldoon die.

the other aspect of Hammond they kind of gloss over in the film is that the park is a venture capital scam that's gone too far, the whole thing about his miniature elephant was that he exploited some grad students (Wu) to make him a tech demo, get investors and then run off with the money once the project flopped. Explain me how the dinosaurs are going to integrate with other animals and are not going to eat them all. And then explain too how are you going to control the dinosaurs so they don't attack humans.
>>
>>215546610
It's just a Rex that's been tweaked to be a little more accurate physically to modern Rex recreations, the face and head, arm position, and proportions. Still has the open teeth rather than closed lips, but since it wasn't the JP1 Rex they could take the opportunity to tweak it a bit. The movie has some alterations like that but oddly it's less accurate with others than Dominion was, like the Quetzalcoatlus which takes more liberties for some reason.
>>
>>215547890
I don't know if you were aware of this but there are a lot of herbivore dinosaurs, and we in fact have a great deal of dangerous animals that would kill humans existing here on Earth right now.

>Explain me how the dinosaurs are going to integrate with other animals and are not going to eat them all
Easy. Dinosaurs eventually get full.
>And then explain too how are you going to control the dinosaurs so they don't attack humans.
Humans being forced to live differently would be a good plot for a movie.
>>
>>215548276
I'm talking about the predators off course. And even the herbivore ones would displace the other herbivore animals. The long neck dinosaurs would eat all the leafs and the giraffes wouldn't have anything left to eat.

>Honey we can't go to the mountains today because there is those giant dinosaurs flying there and they can take some of them to their nests as food.

>>
>>215547890
>how are we going to live with crocodiles and sharks and tigers, they'll eat everything
>>
>>215548323
There's not exactly a whole lot of the dinosaurs, they would be very small populations in a few areas. The predators are also hardly going to eat "everything", they only need to eat so much every day, they're outnumbered by modern animals by about a million to one. A few T-Rexes eating antelope is a drop in the bucket.
>>
>>215548491
Anon we can make all those animals extinct in a matter of months if we really tried. Dinosaurs in the JP movies can fuck up vehicles and buildings not to mention some of the smarter predators can learn how to open doors and hide from enemies wielding guns.
