Both are fun

Has anyone ever made a master list of this phenomenon?
Off the top of my head:
Dante’s Peak vs Volcano
Armageddon vs Deep Impact
Jurassic park vs carnosaur
Jack Frost vs Jack Frost (though the story behind this is pretty fun)

Snow White & the Huntsman and Mirror, Mirror.

They're polar opposites tonally. The volcano in Volcano is treated like a "villain" to defeat, and the whole thing doesn't behave anything like a real volcano or eruption, while the film is full of cheesy melodrama. Dante's Peak is actually pretty accurate as far as volcano eruptions go, and the goal of the protagonists once the eruption starts is simply to survive a force of nature, no more.
