For Casino Royale, okay, fine. We've never had a Bond origin story, that kinda works and my headcanon can slide it into the franchise with minimal issue. When they continued with that, though, making all of the films soft reboots to the whole franchise, complete with reintroducing Blofeld, ruining him, then killing him off, and worst of all, killing James Bond to suit Craig's ego, that's what really ruined his run, possibly making it irredeemable, I'm sorry to say. His movies weren't THAT bad, with the exception of Quantum of Solace, though. Even No Time to Die was pretty solid until the end and a few plot details.

On top of that, he always drinks his vodka martinis, womanizes, quips, he has pretty discernible character traits that wouldn't work if he was meant to be different people. Reminds me of that terrible 3 Jokers comic storyline from DC. Part of the appeal of Bond is that he is such an individual, to make him replaceable would destroy that aspect of the character.I'll just stick with the sliding timeline. The Cold War ending does definitely date the older movies, but so what. Casino Royale still works as a standalone prequel if you can accommodate that.
