He's like a parody of conservatives but it's more liberals who do this thing of signalling that you're 'too moral to even comprehend' a thing, so they pretend not to understand. For example Trump used his usual art of the deal tactics this week to raise the tariff higher on Canada (pretending that something they did leaves him no choice). But I had to listen to two different professors on the radio bleating about how Trump must be stupid because it was some regional/local government in Canada that did the thing, not their national government. It's like, Trump got what he wanted with no effort, and have to look at this situation as him bumbling and failing to understand things. Because to to acknowledge the game that was played would make them feel seedy. They have to stay in a safer Disney mental reality
