How do you think these movies would change the movie industry today? Disney and WB must be seething that their superhero slop is barely breaking even.
>>
The author only made 20k? This is an actual robbery.

Authors get a decent cut of volume sales for the manga itself, he's rolling in the dough I assure you.

mangakas sign their movie rights away. Their money comes from manga sales, which in turn are boosted by anime and movie.
Tbh I dont know why people buy mangas to animes that they watch, but it seems to work well enough.

At the very least, it was a mistake to think that audiences weren't interested in 2D animated films.
>>
Didn't some DC writer asked Trigger to make a Batman anime?
>>
>>215538321
An MCU reboot with literally who actors is what I'm thinking.
>>
>>215539913
Them casting literally who's is the reason it's flopping, people forget the main avengers were actually known actors
>>
>>215538321
they are going to take the wrong message from it and make live action anime adaptations with blacks and trannies and then be shocked no one wants to see them.
manga makes up half of all comic sales in traditional bookstores at this point, by the way. DC and Marvel only make up 3% of comic sales in traditional bookstores combined

the
>muh 2d films
was always cope. they intentionally sabotaged a bunch of 2d films in the early 2000s because the 2d animaters had a union and the 3d animaters didn't
>>
I want a Battle Shonen Spidey flick. And an actual Batman anime.

No one is saying this movie was successful because it was 2D.
In any case, it's true that being 2D isn't a hindrance
>>
>>215538321
Modern anime slop makes all that money just because people are escaping from western entertainment.

Imagine how much more it would've made if it sticked with Ryu Nakayama
>>
>>215541919
the guy I was replying to was referencing the fact that disney went out of its way in the early 2000s to fuck over their own 2d films and dreamworks's 2d films with things like crowded opening weekend windows and lack of marketing as an excuse to gut the 2d animation departments because they wanted to claim 2d wasn't popular because 2d was more expensive due to unions. it's why even the japs went to that fake 2d computer sloppa that's plaguing king of the hill and anime

I really wanted this guy to get arrested for ruining the first season.

Anyone who thought the first season of the anime was good has definitely not read the manga.
It was a terrible adaptation, a total abortion.
The crazy fights were ruined by boring storyboards, and the voice acting was wooden by the director's intent.
The only good parts are that they followed the original story.

The director probably wanted to make a live-action-like anime like Oshii, but Chainsaw Man didn't quite fit that style.
Also, Oshii trusted the abilities of his voice actors and never held them back.
