>>215548592This flick is unremarkable theatrical slop that has only two choices that have actually anything to do with cinema as art - it's colour graded into the grey oblivion (like comically so) and the aspect ratio is kind of wider than a usual movie. That's it. The "story" is very fictionalized and changed up, and there isn't even any dramatic momentum there really, they're just exchanging lines that sound like they're monologuing to each other. It could have been some attempt at Brechtian distancing or something but Sarah Polley (whoever she is) does not have the shred of talent of Straub-Huillet or Godard to pull this kind of thing off.
>Women Talking is a 2022 American drama film written and directed by Sarah Polley. Based on the 2018 novel by Miriam Toews, itself inspired by the gas-facilitated rapes that occurred at the Manitoba Colony, a remote and isolated Mennonite community in Bolivia,[4] the film follows a group of American Mennonite women who discuss their future, following their discovery of the men's history of raping the colony's women.Based men
>>215548592>inspired by true eventsgrim
>>215551237funnily enough the "real events" are the exact opposite, the women didn't talk and just obeyed the men. The movie is a fanfiction where they get together and oppose those men.
