What's your opinion of the next McCarthy kinos?Laszlo Nemes will direct Outer Dark starring Lily Rose Depp and Jacob ElordiBlood Meridian will be directed by John Hillcoat who already made The Road. A book that is so infamously known for being impossible to adapt due to how violent its setting is. Some fans are upset that it is not the Coen Brothers (NCFOM) that took the reigns for it.Will they do it justice? I personally believe it will be hard to not make it shit because those are two of his edgiest books and it is hard to transcribe on a screen the beauty of McCarthy's lyrics (just look at the ATPH adaptation being some generic early 2000s romance movie)I'm not gonna lie I would have preferred an new adaptation of ATPH and an adaptation of The Crossing
I meant prose
>>215551865you could probably do blood meridian's prose justice with good cinematography and imagery. the novel is short on dialogue, internal monologuing and is actually very visual and imo would translate well to screen.
It will be watered down pedestrian horseshit.
>>215551865Hillcoat is the perfect man for the job, i have full faith in him provided he is able to truly be in creative control.
>>215551865The biggest issue with adapting BM is that about a 3rd of the book is just going over travels in past tense, then another 3rd of the book is the kid's internal monologue on the gang's activities and then the other 3rd is just violence and people spiting into the dirt.Making all that coherent in film would require some gay narrative elements like a narrator
