When they bring out the LotR soundtrack to emotionally manipulate you into thinking it's good you know this shit sucks. Essentially these movies get worse by the minute.
The first...1/3 of the first one are good? They're basically on message as far as being tonally The Hobbit but with Peter Jackson flair on top. It looks good, it works.Everything after that? Bad. Horrible characters, horrible writing, horrible CGI. And it only gets worse and worse over time as they clearly stopped giving a shit about the actual narrative and spent most of the multiple films' runtimes on made up side nonsense and retarded characters invented to fill space. The first chunk of the first movie sort of works specifically because it's NOT that. It's NOT stupid filler and plot-unrelated invented garbage. It's just the scenes from the book.

Not good.Find the M4 Book edit which cuts the whole trilogy down to like 4hrs and stays pretty close to the book.Bilbo's casting was one of the better ones. The Dwarves were all fucked up.Smaug not having forelegs was bad.
