I'm with you on that. I hadn't smoked any in over twenty years. A couple months past a friend went to a dispensary and gave me a joint. It had some ridiculous DUDE WEED LMAO name, Pineapple XXX Blowout or some such shit. I got maybe a quarter of the way through it and was blasted out of my fucking mind. I couldn't even stand up. Fucking miserable experience. No wonder I waited twenty years. Wow.

this has been true with a lot of drugs. originally cocaine was really weak too, they put it in drinks and chewed on leaves and it gave a little buzz, then at some point it was made much more potent into these powder forms to snort or whatever.
