George C. Scott actually wanted to play his role more seriously, but Kubrick told him to "go wild" as warm up and said he'd never actually use those takes, only he totally did and that really pissed Scott off kek
I wish I could re-watch this for the first time just for the moment where it becomes obvious it's just a goofy comedy and not some slow burn "so deep" shit. I only watched it because the trailer was so weird and had no idea what it was actually about, one of the best decisions I ever made, kino of the highest order
