Why is this movie hated again? I have only fond memories of it
>>
GenX malcontents thought it was just bootleg Ghostbusters
>>
We need to bring back children's IPs based on adult movies
>>
>>215557135
The greatest Head n Shoulders commercial ever made
>>
It's the last truly great movie
>>
>>215557145
Yeah but it wasn’t hated. It’s one of those movies where it either should’ve been a full blown comedy or serious. It kind of straddled both and comedy didn’t seem to fit a lot of times
>>
Sex with the big giant holes that they spray with shampoo at the end of the movie.
>>
I had it on DVD as a kid and I watched it lots. I think it's a fun movie. Not great, but definitely worthwhile. Some neat scifi stuff in it

I don't know but I watched it the other day and still enjoyed it.

Nobody hated it, it was just a nothingburger which released with little fanfare and wasn't talked about ever again

>>215557145
It's painfully apparent that Reitman really just wanted to do Ghostbusters again, but this wasn't it
>>
I tried rewatching it and it doesn't hold up

this but the opposite

Comfy movie
>>
>>215557135
I watched it again recently, coincidentally. It's very bland and generic. I still find it comfortable and watchable. But once every 20 years if nothing else is on is fine.
>>
>>215558420
I need to rewatch it to see if it still holds up
Im 31 now
>>
>>215557135
The only thing bad about this movie is how Ira figures out that selenium is the poison for the aliens. Hur dur, same pattern for us and arsenic. Outside of that, it's top shelf.
>>
>>215557155
Weird how even poorly received movies seemed to get cartoons back then.

Pretty much all of the hate is because of the head and shoulders product placement they were forced to do, which they did handle pretty humorously imo. Its a good fun movie thats aged well
>>
Its got good monsters. I liked when they fought the ape guys in the dome.
>>
>>215557135
It's never been hated. Its reception has always been lukewarm, but it's mostly just a forgettable movie. I've seen the movie and I don't remember a thing about it beyond it being a vague retread of Ghostbusters.
>>215557145
Gen Xer's weren't watching this crap.
>>
>>215559405
making a cartoon in the 90's didn't require burning millions of dollars on bullshit like most things seem to today
>>
>>215557135
No one hates it, just no one praises it that much because its knock-off ghostbusters without the special sauce of the ensemble.
I like it, its funny, I still say "good googley moogley" because of this stupid movie, and the aliens and concept is pretty cool, but its just a bit lackluster overall.
>>
>>215557135
Anyone who hates it just outs themselves as hating fun.
>>
>>215558277
Anon, I think we've established that ca caw ca caw and tookie tookie don't work
>>
The black guy is the zestiest motherfucker I've ever seen.
>>
>>215559888
he was kicked off gray's anatomy for hating a gay costar
>>
>>215557135
I never recall any hate towards this movie. It was seen as a fun Ghostbusters-esque comedy. It's not extraordinary but it's got likeable characters and plenty of laughs.
>>
>>215559946
Different nog.
>>
>>215560002
really?
>>
>>215560126
Yep. Pretty sure it was an Isaiah or Ezekiel Washington or something that called that guy a "faggot".
>>
>>215557145
they're not wrong, but Hollywood's been trying to turn Ghostbusters into a reproducible formula for decades now, with limited success. Nothing yet has surpassed the lightning-in-a-bottle that the original was.
>>
>insert nerdy black friend
>/tv/ doesn’t complain
yea it’s certified kino
>>
>>215558162
The monsters were cool. The baboon/ape things at the end freaked me out.

I remember this was my friend's favourite movie and he'd put it on like twice a year in the background while we played Halo on Xbox live or hotseat Medieval Total War 2 campaigns
>>
>>215557135
It's pretty damn bad, interesting concept and cool monster but the toilet humor is just awful
>>
>>215557743
he cute
>>
>>215557135
When it came out it was just 2000s slop no one cared about. 7up guy, xfiles guy, and the guy who was in American Pie. What an odd combo. But now today its a good movie because its no longer slop as it was during its release but 2000s nostalgia.

>>
>>215557135
Duchovny left X-Files for that.
I rewatched it a few years ago and honestly don't remember much about it aside the Head & Shoulders meme, of course compared to modern Hollywood it's a near masterpiece.
>>
>>215559405
It still pisses me off that everything under the sun seemed to get a cartoon back then but Jurassic Park didn't.
No, That Camp Cretaceous shit doesn't count because it's Jurassic World.
>>
Hated by whom exactly? Every single person I've ever talked to about it enjoyed it.
>>
>>215557135
I had puritanical parents as a kid that didn't let me use the internet so for porn I got the DVD of this and jacked it to Julianne Moore. They were never the wiser.
>>

seems like everyone thought it was mid

its Ghostbusters 3, essentially. the true spiritual sequel. after watching ghostbusters 1 and 2, and you want more ghostbusters, this is the movie

Nah that would be the 2009 game

Written by Aykroyd and Ramis, features the full cast, and has tons of authentic cool creepy Ghostbusters lore
>>
>>215557792
I rewatched it and thought it was fine. Now what?
>>
>>215559698
maybe I’m retarded but I feel like over the top, in your face, “we were forced to do this” product placement is always funny
>>
>>215563556
It’s crazy how 2000s slop is now considered kino by 2025 standards. We’ve regressed so hard in 20 years
>>
>>215565964
man, imagine bending her over that couch, flipping her skirt up, and just railing the shit out of her with your hands wrapped around her thing little waist. That'd be nice
>>
I love this movie. I loved ayylmaos and Ghostbusters as a kid so this scratched an itch that I didn't even know was there.
There was such a nice sci-fi/fantasy boom in the early 2000's, I'm always bummed it died off so quick.

>>

I saw it in theaters.
Went in with high hopes.
It's just not funny. I laughed maybe twice.
Comedies are supposed to make you laugh. I barely laughed.
No I will not be rewatching it.

>>215557135

>>
>>215567084
Never saw it but I remember seeing a trailer for it when I was young and thought it was more of a wannabe Men in Black than a Wannabe Ghost Busters.

its more like a lesser Tremors than Ghostbusters imo. About the tier of scifi original movies but with a relatively good budget.

I loved this cartoon. When I finally saw the movie, I was disapointed it wasn't similar. Was the little yellow dude even in the film?
