I don't get why people here never understood his character. Jim is actually similar to Michael The scene where Michael goes over all his pranks makes this explicitly clear that Jim is just as big a loser and wastes just as much time as Michael.He's seemingly friendless for the first half. Doesn't really hang out with anyone but his crush all day. Even Dwight had friends.Once he's in a managerial position everyone quickly turns on him and hates him for it. He's not as abrasive and annoying as Michael, but the point is that Michael wasn't really that bad until he became a manager because it was less about sales (which Michael exceled at because it was the only time he didn't have to think about being friendless) I always liked that the narrative of him wasting his life and time kept coming back. That's why Pam doesn't really fit him better than Karen did. Karen was on his ass more than Pam.

>>215559137I always recommend people skip the first season and only go back to it if you really get into the show. Things change a lot with the second season. The first season was pretty much remaking the original British version of The Office and it didn't really work. Michael is almost a completely different character in the second seasona and there's a new tone and humor to the show to better fits the cast.
