The novelty of the first season doesn't hold up to repeat viewings. It tries so hard to capture the magic of 80s movies that it's just too awkward. Particularly the dynamic between the child actors, it's a slog watching them. The success of the show and the way they've stretched it out for years with the same story each season that is barely changed is just testament to how shitty television has gotten.
