It's utterly literally impossible to walk for that long without stopping. Especially if they're Americans.
It ruins the film.

If you don't like the movie or just thought it was boring that's fine

But I can't stand people who treat movies and art in general like some checklist of things that needs to conform to rules like it's some school essay that needs to follow the guidelines and if even 1 thing is missing then that makes it bad
>the characters don't have backstories
>it's unrealistic
>the state of the world isn't explained

It's just extremely autistic and misses the point of the movie
>>
>>215561371
Nevertheless, at the end of the day, it's literally impossible to walk hundreds of kilometers non-stop.
>>
>>215561702
No it isn't. Ever heard of a forced march?
>>
>>215561305
stop being fat
>>
>>215561702
Factually incorrect
>>
>>215561775
Source?
500 km non stop?

For Nicki Minaj to jump backwards from a three storey building, landing ass first on my face.

>gatekeeping criticism

>bad dialog
>Cringe
>unrealistic characters
>unrealistic relationships
>bad writing
>setting makes no sense
>kid loses shoes and walks barefoot for 50 miles
>everyone walking for hundred+ miles look like they just havent showered for 1 weekend
>low quality special effects and cgi blood/gunshots
just watched this turd last night, fucking pathetic everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves
>>
>>215561305
>>215561702
I can walk at least that far, maybe further. I choose not to because I have a car.
>>
>>215561807
nobody IRL has ever had a reason to do that so it hasn't been tested. Outside of the fictional scenario in the film you would take 5 minutes here and there
>>
>>215561702
>>215561807
iirc the winner is the last one standing after all the others are eliminated because they stopped or slowed down, so it's not a matter of distance you just have to outlast everyone.
>>
>>215561983
yeah, but they make it past 500 miles in the film
>>
>>215561912
bro, there have been multiple death marches throughout history. Even recently your grandpapy probably got long walked by the nips, and ivans grandpappy got longwalked to the gulag by stalin. We know pretty well actually.
Ironically those death marches were softer than this because they had some breaks. But still, massive casualties and a bullet to the head for those that were weak or slow.

They didn't walk hundreds of kilometers, they walked hundreds of miles.

>gatekeeping criticism
Yeah, not all criticism is valid
>bad dialog
>Cringe
>bad writing
>low quality special effects and cgi blood/gunshots
That's all valid stuff

>the movie was unrealistic
>things made no sense
That's not valid
Movies aren't like laws that you have to follow, movies don't have to make sense, they have to be realistic
Clearly you don't like being challenged by movies or made uncomfortable, so movies have to make sense for you otherwise your autistic mind can't comprehend everything spelled out for you or the purpose being prioritized over anything else

Because for autists like you, it's easier to see movies as something to grade by how well it followed the rules of standard convention because that's easier to understand than how a movie made you feel emotionally

This movie(and book) isn't subtle in the fact that the surface level metaphor is about the vietnam war, young boys being promised something, taught soldiers are brave as kids so don't take dying risk seriously at the start, but once they see it, they're scarred and traumatized leading to mental issues, suicide and treason/mutiny. Promised a reward but really no one benefits and there is no real winner because they've been changed forever and nothing can help them. The long walk is their journey through life during and after the war.

If that doesn't resonate with you that's fine it's not a masterpiece by an means, but you're focusing on the plate and not the food itself

That's like calling Moby Dick a bad book with things that don't make sense because you refuse to engage with its actual meaning
>>
some rest scenes would have really broken up the repetition in the film
it's basically a loop of angry yelling > emotional connecting > someone dies then repeat
>>
It would have been logical to have a 5 minute break every 12 hours to change the guards and let them take shits
>>
>>215562840
the guards are driving, there's nothing stopping some of them dropping out when a new jeep joins them or something
>>
People can walk for an absurd amount of time, I dont remember the number in the movie but I dont care if they stretch it. My problem is that dont look exhausted or even tired, still I really like the movie

Someone in Greece walked 410km
Add a life or death situation and I can believe

>Someone in Greece walked 410km
That's what it takes to evade taxes.
>>
I felt like I was watching a play rather than a movie desu
>>
>>215561738
show me a march that was almost 400 miles and people made it to the end without stopping or sleeping.
>>
>>215561305
The point was about their willpower/metaphor to keep fighting not actually about the physical walking.
>>
>>215561305
It’s been recorded some walk 250-300 miles 3-4 days so longer than you think
>>
>>215561305
>It's utterly literally impossible to walk for that long without stopping
For HOW long, dipshit. It's literally a last-man-standing march to the death.
>>
>>215565591
Without any rest time? Even on amphetamines that's impossible.
>>
The book is really good and I highly recommend it if you like the movie. The books are different enough as well that you won't be spoiled.

There are record celebrations, more military backstory etc in the book. It's pure kino, I bet you guys would actually root for Major, because he's actually liked by the kids walking in the book, he's not a straight up antagonist like in the movie.

It's my favorite stephen king book.

Roman legionaries during wars marched 500 miles in 6 days during the persecution of Anthony Mark. Terrain was a lot rougher back then as well, not just flat asphalt and modern shoes with shock absorbing soles.

The distances in the book and movie are completely doable. In fact it's kind of bizarre how many of them suffered from organ failures, which wouldn't happen at those distances yet.
>>
>>215566269
What don't you understand in "without any rest time"?
>>
>Hey man you go on I'll die for you
>No let's keep walking... JK I die instead
>>

>Roman legionaries during wars marched 500 miles in 6 days
That's physically impossible, you probably read some old propaganda
>>

yikes

>Troffea kept up the constant dancing for a week
So dancing for 3 weeks straight was observed and historically recorded but walking for 4 days is impossible? Fucking dumbass burgers
>>
>>215561371
All of this is true, though. If your world doesn't conform to the most basic of reason, I have no interest in exploring it. It's for retards. It's young adult shit for retards.
>>
>>215566423
>it's impossible because... it just is ok?
>>
>>215566524
Exactly where and when did they march 500 miles in 6 days?
>>
>>215562219
the film ends with them at around 331 miles
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JiRrrAfX8s
go to 2min 13sec

Imagine the smell after everyone has taken a shit in their pants
>>
>>215565523
If you think about it, average walking speed is 1 mile per 15 mins. So 4 miles an hour.
400 miles equals 100 hours, so essentially 4 days of constant strolling, no sleep or rest. It is actually doable
>>
>>215566483
average ''why isn't this whimsical movie not scientifically accurate'' tard
