>starts off as a very obvious allegory for school shootings>the person behind everything was a witch trying to preserve her youthwhat am i supposed to take away from this?
Nah, it's about teachers molesting kids.
>>215562524>starts off as a very obvious allegory for school shootingsDoes it? Has there ever been a school shooting where the shooter was unknown?
>>215562549>all the kids who "disappeared" were from a single classroom>parents hysterical and demanding answers>everyone getting blamed, teacher yelled at for "not seeing it coming">archer sees a random machine gun in his dream>all the kids are still traumatized afterward i assume the part where the shooter is unknown is the director saying school shootings are a problem that aren't fully addressed or prevented
>>215562524>what am i supposed to take away from this? That the filmmaker realied half way through gun shooting allegory isnt really working well and switched to alcoholism allegory because of his friend he had lost from it
Nothing. It was a fun horror film, not a political sermon FOR ONCE.
You don't have to take anything away from movies. It's just entertainment for the masses. If you must do that then take a look at those arthouse movies or whatever those are called. Big movies are only for entertainment, not for pondering.
>>215562524It was good, I watched it twice
Maybe you were just supposed to enjoy a horror mystery without wondering if it does or doesn't agree with your politics.
>>215562524>starts off as a very obvious allegory for school shootingsWhat the fuck are you on about retard?
>>215562524No it didn't.
>>215562973holy retardation
>>215562524I think it's more about ignorance within systems and how abuse goes under the radar, which is why it ends on the note of the kids being traumatized forever. For this to have happened the adults have failed. Law enforcement failed, education system couldn't take the pressure and nobody in authority could step up. All the parents in the movie are confused and have a literal distance from their missing kids, they're angry but don't know where to direct the anger. Because it's a movie there is an evil witch pulling the strings lol but yeah what I took from it wasn't a concrete "it's about this one issue" rather that it's about us failing children.
>>215562524>allegoryonly faggot men and women use this term
It has nothing to do with shootings you people are pogged or spam bots
>>215562636>i assume the part where the shooter is unknown is the director saying school shootings are a problem that aren't fully addressed or preventedyeah but Zach Gregger said the movie has nothing do with politics or school shooting. And when you’re thinking about those questions, I know for me, based on the title, the initial premise, my brain immediately goes to a metaphor for school shootings, which obviously are far too common in this country. And something that really upsets me as a viewer. I think transporting that into the horror genre, intentionally or unintentionally, is genius on your part. Was that the catalyst for why you wanted to tell this story? Was there a particular moment?>No.No? Okay. So, where did the idea originate from?>I mean, to me, it’s not about school shootings. I don’t want this movie to be political at all.
>>215562524Watched this last night and I agree. Seemed like they were too scared of backlash to make it actually about a school shooting so they hid behind an allegory with a plot that doesn't really work. Only saving grace was Julia Garnet being a qt patootie in it in an "I can fix her" kind of way. She looked so cute all the times she was being choked too. You could tell she was a little turned on every time.
>>215565205just adding on yeah Zach Gregger is a midwit and Weapons is a shit movie.
perhaps it was just about a witch
>>215565777Checked. So it seems, so it seems.
>>215562524it's literally the pied piper
>>215562524Are you the anon in /hor/ writing paragraphs about Weapons being a metaphor for school shootings?
Too much A24 got y'all trying to jam metaphors and subtext on a standard creepy witch story
It's an average movie, written by an average man, that has no deeper meaning. It's a MacDonald's. It's just something to pass the time.
>school shootingwhat 5th grader went on a school shooting?
