Come up with a sequel. Set six months after this one ended.
>>215562795there already is a sequel, it's better than the original too. everyone just got filtered.>b-BUT CARPENTER DADDY SAYS T-filtered
>>215562808Boy, what a dumb post.
Why? the movie sucks
>>215562795Not everything needs a sequel
>>215562808MEWfag>>215562821Female
>>215562795>Resupply icebreaker gets sent from Tasmania, Australia>Thing makes it onto the ship>Ship gets back to Australia >Thing immediately gets eaten by spoidahs and stingrays>planet saved
>>215562860Nor a prequel, but here we are.
>>215563060MacReady survives. It’s revealed in the video game (which is the only sequel you’ll ever get) John Carpenter confirmed it as canon. It’s a done deal.
the thing goes to hawaii
>the thing goes to a mud hut nigger tribe
The Thing goes to the hood (Da Thang or Tha Thizzang)
>>215562795>current day>Childs and Macready still sat there in the snow>”why ain’t we dead yet?”>Keith David looks directly at the camera “The Thing 2!”>fin
>>215563084So, let MacReady be alive and swap the chinks out for nips... whatev's. It's not that difficult, given there are a million ways for the alien to have survived.
>>215562795Okay six months, the US government has already checked the area discovered MacCready's tape and found the alien frozen in the ice again. They made up a cover up story and have transported it to a facility in the Nevada desert. One day a careless action causes a rube goldberg-esque series of events causing the alien to escape. The whole place is on lockdown, no one gets in and no one gets out. The contingency plan in case of a breakout was to send in a team to contain it, should they fail the facility would be destroyed. Our protagonists are a mix or scientists and soldiers trying to contain the outbreak before the facility is nuked.
>>215562795A young Linnea Quigley appears and dances naked for some reason.
>>215563258why would you need to make up a coverstory for something thap happened in total isolation in a frozen hellscape
>>215562795Isn't the video game a sequel?
>>215563389Because the Norwegian government would also send people to investigate. Unless the Americans want to share the alien with the Norwegians they would keep it under wraps and make up a story.
After losing contact with Outpost 31 and the nearby Norwegian station, the world’s governments can no longer ignore the possibility that something alien is buried in the Antarctic ice. A multinational task force, the UN Polar Response Division (UNPRD), is formed to investigate and contain the threat — equipped with the latest in biomechanical exosuits called ARMs (Arctic Response Mecha). Each ARM is built for extreme cold, featuring flame-based weaponry, cryogenic cutters, and quarantine pods for sample retrieval. The pilots are elite soldiers and scientists who must balance combat readiness with intense psychological screening to detect Thing contamination.
>>215562795The sequel is directed by John Carpenter, six months after he made this one. There, the only real formula for a good sequel to the Thing. It's never happening. Think up the most brilliant idea, and it'll still be directed by a glorified garbageman.
>>215562795A small blood splatter containing the Thing absorbs DNA from the mold on a bread crumb in McReady's jacket pocket. It gains the ability to reproduce by releasing spores. McReady and Childs inhale the spores and become infected. They turn into a giant fungus-like Thing and release spores into the atmosphere. The spores reach several countries on the hemisphere and causes an international pandemic. Story focuses on a vacationing couple trying survive the chaos that ensues.
>>215562795>Resupply icebreaker gets sent from New Zealand.>Thing makes it onto the ship.>Ship gets back to New Zealand.>Thing disguises itself as a puppet on children's television show.>Horror ensues when Thing's eye falls out during a live broadcast.
Predator 2 but The Thing
I'd have it set on a cargo ship. I don't know how it'd tie to the original, i.e. how the thing got on there, but that'd be my idea.
>>215563899Rastafarian Thing?
>>215562795whole thing takes place on a big train. like a long train or some shit. the thing is on a train and theres people on the train. tension
Months after the film the thing has reached the rest of the world after coming into contact with the group of people that investigated what happened to the original base, it has now infected most of the planet and the new film deals with a group of people on an extremely isolated base that is deep underground or something similar. Film is about the soon inevitable end of world and the group slowly getting infected and dealing with their extreme paranoia.
If the thing gets to anywhere that's not Antarctica it's basically game over so I don't know how you expand on any other setting.I read some of the Thing comics years ago, they were in jungles and they traveled by ocean and I think a city or town at some point and those all broke my suspension of disbelief because if you're there with the Thing you've already lost.
>>215563918The [REC] series did this.
>>2155627956 months later the ice melts and the thing gets back to work on its spaceship. It finishes it and leaves earth.
>>215563971It's called Horror Express and it's Christopher Lee-Peter Cushing kino. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hm89VYH1JP8
>>215562795No
>>215563392we need a game where you play as das ding
>>215564864It's already a thing, although you can't morph into people. Prototype has that.
>>215563174>thing goes to hawaii>befriends a native little girl and turns away from its genocidal alien ways
>>215562795The Thing VS ALIEN
>>215562795Don't Be The Thing In South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood
>>215562808Try-hard faggot contrarian alert. No one shares that opinion. KYS nigger.
>>215562795Somebody posted in one of these threads many years ago an idea for a sequel where the Thing has gotten out of Antarctica and started fucking up the world and the movie takes place in a bunker filled with the rich and powerful. I don't know why but that idea stuck in my head. Now that I think about it more it would basically be Day of the Dead but with the Thing instead of zombies.
>>215566589samefag but now that I think about it Carpenter has basically done the same setup multiple times already with Assault on Precinct 13, Prince of Darkness and Ghosts of Mars.
>>215562795The Thing turns into a group of hot chicks that men find irresistable. The sexy woemn all wear skimpy underwear so the movie is names The Thongs
>>215562795>remote hick town somewhere in nevada desert>it starts with farm animals acting weird>quirky lgbt+ girl main protag dreaming of a better life in LA>complains about lack of diversity>townsfolk start acting weird>underground military base reveal with frozen remains of outpost31 crew>townsfolk start chasing the remaining uninfected people, who are mostly socially akward rejects like main protag girl>government decides to nuke everythingI'd call it "THING$"
>>215562795>thing is discovered by chinese scientists and taken to the mainland for research>takes over and fakes a global pandemic>spreads itself all over earth disguised as vaccine against pandemic>only survivors are based anti vaxxers>anti vaxxers kill things and save the dayIt's called "Vaxthing"
>>215562795
>>215562795Obviously it's called The Things and is directed by James Cameron
>>215562808Unironically, if you watch it as a sequel instead of a prequel it becomes a 4/5 movie. Not perfect but probably the best scifi in the last 15 years. You don't even have to be the opposite of an autist to enjoy it this way. It's not that hard to recontextualize into a sequel. I have NO IDEA why they decided this was a prequel an absolute retaded choice
Filmed in POV from The Thing. The mystery i that you don't know who it is you're seeing the POV from. When you do find out in the movie, be it because their name get called out, by process of elimination of who else is on screen, or they Thing-out, it witches to another Thing.
