Four 4's
Four Yous.
I just recently understood that when the other crewmember were playing this game and betting years on the ship, they are actually betting how long they are allowed to stay, and not to get off sooner. before that I thought it was the other way around because the dutchman is so shitty, but the reason they made the deal in the first place is because they didn't want to die
>>215563567I really doubt that's the case. I always assumed they wanted to be released. How did you come to that conclusion?
>>215563567>>215563589The whole reason they joined his crew was so they didn't have to go to hell. Sure, they have to work and turn into sea critters but at least they're not being endlessly tortured. They want to stay on his ship as long as possible.
>>215563589for one how it's phrased "we wager the only thing we have left, years of service"the other thing like I said the reason why they are there in the first place. They are scared of dying and passing over to the afterlife, and Davy Jones gives them 100 years on the dutchman so they can postpone dying. The only reason why it's a punishment for Will to stay there for eternity is that he was there for a specific reason and not because he basically died at sea

two nines
is it gay to post this? it's my greatest moment on this site
>>215563636>>215563650In that case why is there a game at all? Just have Wyll transfer all of his years into a willing victim. That doesn't make any sense
>>215563567>>215563650one flaw in your theory: the loser gets the years
Two fices
Two sixes
>>215563709>In that case why is there a game at all? Just have Wyll transfer all of his years into a willing victim. My guess is that Davy Jones has the final say and he just won't let him do that>>215563735>one flaw in your theory: the loser gets the yearswhere is there any indication for that? my whole point is that it's the other way around
>>215563567>>215563589>>215563709I understood it perfectly fine the first time i watched it as a teenager almost 20 years ago. You guys might be either retarded or autistic. Your call.
>>215563735yeah wtf, I'm confused again
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tnLYEwZRgUlet's watch it again bros
>>215563567If that were true then Davy Jones wouldn't have even let Bootstrap join the game, since Will would be betting to stay off the ship and Bootstrap would be betting to stay on.
>>215563797Bootstrap is propably another case of someone who doesn't want to spend an eternity on the ship, he only made the deal because the alternative would have been staying on the bottom of the ocean with a canon strapped to your leg and not being able to die because of the aztec curse
>>215563768Are you fucking retarded? People make a deal with the devil when their backs are up against the wall. Then they have to live with the consequences of making a deal with the devil (spoiler alert: it's not good). After spending a little time in hell, they realize nothingness is preferable and they want out of hell.
>>215563848Most of the dutchman crewmembers don't seem that unhappy, and serving on the dutchman is still better than literal hell. Before that most of the guys were either pirates or lowly sailors, so working on the dutchman isn't that different from what they knew their whole life except for the fish stuff
>>215563567Jones tells Bill that he'll spend an eternity on the ship after he loses. Losing gets you more time on board.
>>215563786seems clear to me that it's about freedom from the ship. if that means death or life for most of them is irrelevant.will wagers 100 years of service. if he loses, he serves.
>>215563890It's because that was the specific term he agreed with Will, and like I said both Bootsrap and Will don't want to spend an eternity there, neither of them is there because they were afraid of dying
>>215563934Ok so why doesn't bootstrap just challenge every other crewman on the ship and intentionally lose until he's allowed to leave?

>>215563636 I wonder how Davy Jones holds his end of that contract. Can a crewmember just walk up to him and say "Hey I lost 100 years to coral man, I need to get off"
>>215566003He is immortal, can teleport and phase through objects, I bet he has some kind of internal clock when it comes to years that have to be served on his ship
