Why is Eggers fallowing in the footsteps of Ridley Scott?!
>>
>>215565567
Midwits are attracted to Eggers like moths to a flame. Such a shitty director.
>>
>>215565686
He probably likes the mood, or maybe it's a compromise in favor of (presumed) marketability.

He's playing around with archetypes, but it rarely makes for a coherent picture. So, yes, the uncertainty accompanying his work surely attracts pseuds.

Horrible stuff. The funniest thing about all of this is that there is a director who does what Eggers should be doing, but barely anyone knows about him.

In the same way a comic book or pulp writer does. Except without their primitive entertainment.

What's the point of 4k HDR when everything has no color or brightness? Even minions 4 at least has some fucking contrast
Even animation and CGI is like a brown bloom grey video game from the mid 00s music video looking ass
>>
>>215566129
You use shadows and bad lighting to create atmosphere for spooky. These shitty filters are what no skill amateurs use. There's a reason real talent prefer film over digital.

They show you bright colorful TVs to make you want to buy one and when you take it home, every show and movie is dull.

Yeah, even in the periods where they stopped wearing surcoats you still see a lot of color in contemporary depictions. You basically never seen dark, undyed, and undecorated clothing unless they're mega poorfags or part of a monastic order.
>>
>>215566362
What's the point of having a TV with a billion Nits when every new show barely goes above 100?
>>

One of the reasons I always preferred the original Ring. It felt more grounded in reality, which then heightens the dread of supernatural horror. Whereas with the remake, everything already looks like it's taking place in a bizarre nightmare dimension. I don't really enjoy watching a stained vomit green movie. It feels tainted anytime I've seen it. Green dye doesn't make your movie scarier.
>>
>>215566730
I was thinking the same thing when I looked at that picture. It's more scary when it seems more real. These filters do nothing but make it harder to see.
>>
>>215565902
Zulawski is doing it for artistic purposes, not because he is following a shitty trend. There is nothing wrong with muted colours when the film actually calls for it.
>>
>>215566558
Filmmakers have a hard time understanding that people weren't brainless drones and understood the concept of different clothes for working in the field, different for everyday activities, and different for church/festivities.
>>
>>215567236
yeah On the Silver Globe is beautiful to watch... not that I understood a damned thing. Whatever he did there, it worked. I had no idea what was going on but I watched to the end because it was visually so intriguing

it's all about perverting history, by portraying the past, specially the christian past, as miserable so that they can pretend that the present day is better
