I can never forgive Strangers Chapter 2 for replacing Saw XI on the release slate. Another Halloween without one of his movies...
>>
>>215566661
The horror comes from learning that other children had better and happier childhoods than you did because (((THEY))) saw your happy high-trust civilization as "problematic" and decided to "fix it."

I'm watching the Friday the 13th series, i'm at the eighth movie and getting bored.
>>
>>215566922
Hell yeah. Hit em with it.
>>
>>215566969
they do start getting boring and repetitive around there, but luckily the next two are camp kino. everyone hates Jason Goes to Hell, but I unironically think it is the most fun sequel, and then Jason X is just ridiculous (in a fun way)
>>
>>215566515
I find Conjuring 2 extremely overrated.

Not a movie, but I've been digging through old cartoons like 1930s-50s Disney and there's plenty of spooky stuff like the tale of the headless horseman. Also anything that was made for TV is especially comfy.

One that was almost gone from my childhood memory was the Grinch Halloween Special. The ending sequence is a psychedelic nightmare that blew my mind when I saw it was a 6 year old or whatever.

Hocus Pocus and also The Witches are peak halloween childhood movies. Ernest Scared Stupid is also great.

>>215566969
>the Friday the 13th series
I always felt they were out of place for Halloween given how the setting is summer camps.
>>
>>215568460
it was on the line between good and above average, but the ridiculous ending was so wild that it bumped it up to good imo. plus I liked the interesting editing in the beginning and a lot of the cinematography. why didn't you like it?
>>
>>215568940
>the Friday the 13th series
Most of the movies are also pretty shit.
>>
>>215568779
It's the worst movie released this year (that I've seen). Baffling story decisions, contrived, Danny Boyle overuses some lame 100x iphones glued together thing and it's just embarrassing, intro is the absolute worst of the series.
I can't believe they had 15 years to come up with this sequel and this is what they came up with
>>
>>215569052
Well that does sound pretty bad.
>>
>>215569052
>Baffling story decisions
such as?
>intro is the absolute worst of the series
I'll give you that, but it's hard to top arguably two of the best film intros ever
>>
>>215569125
It was. Let me continue
>The alpha infected have gained the superpower to control thousands of crows with no explanation or payoff
>The main character's terminally ill mom is a massive, cantankerous bitch and the audience is expected to sympathize with her
>The main character barely survives exploring the infected zone with his outdoorsman, hunter father but has no issues exploring the same zone with his terminally ill, dementia ridden mother
>That same terminally ill mother gains super human strength for one scene and it is never explained
>They take a newborn baby from an infected woman and just assume it itself is not infected for no real reason than "le hecking womb kept it safe lmao"

I could go on, but yeah 3/10 flick
>>
>>215566506
Bone Tomahawk (2015).
>>
>>215569343
Don't forget the Jimmy Saville Power Rangers Cult
>>
>>215566178
Someone in another thread recommended The Predators or whatever the name of the 2018 reboot was, as what Die Hard is to Christmas movies, and it's extremely on point.

If only for that scene where the kid goes out trick or treating and blows up someone's house using the predator helmet
>>
>>215569438
By that point of the movie I was already so drained and pissed off it didn't even phase me
>>
>>215566506
Eggers' Nosferatu (2024)
>>
>>215566178
I don't care for Bob Zombie's loud screaming movies, but Lords of Salem is his most subdued and subtle movie and really fits the whole Fall mood.

It was good. Was worried about it after the last one. The series isn't S Tier more like solid B to B+ tier just good at what they are, with 2 good lead actors
>>
>>215566528
Was really surprised after how bad Chapter 1 was how competent this one was. I don't know if I'd call it great, but for a low budget movie where they just go to different locales and chase a girl around there it's pretty good. The wild CG boar scene was so dumb it wrapped back around to kino
>>
>>215569052
the story was just completely fucking absurd
