what did we think of it?
>>
Ultimately, lack of storytelling cohesion. It started good and it pulled through for quite a while but at some point, it started falling apart, at least to me.
>>
Ruined by the stupid wife getting involved with the business and triggering an audit.
>>
>>215567521
A slanderous misrepresentation of Missouri. Really quite absurd.
>>
Unwatchable due to absurdly dark blue color grading and lighting in general

I laughed out loud at one point where there's a scene indoors during the daytime and of course all the lights are off and it looks like theyre underwater, and then this nigga opens the fridge and even the inside of the fridge is fucking pitch black with no light inside. incredible
>>
excellent to the point of underrated until season 4
>>
>>215567758
>blue color grading

that's only in the first two seasons
>>
>>215567767
this. season four was too unfocused and introduced too many new characters and plotlines.
>>
i really enjoyed it
>MARDY
great villains, no immediate mixed-race savior like Black Rabbit, taught me to never mix up hillbilly and redneck
i think about the scene where "daily mail" plays while they walk around their old house all the time
>>
Among the worst endings to a long running series in recent memory.
>>
>>215568862
it was kinda abrupt without payoff, but it fit the theme of "evil wins" which was one of the points of the show

i only watched for she. surprised when the series turned out to be really good
>>
I liked it when they put Marty in a cell and just blasted Brujeria 24/7 at him.
Lol.
>>
>>215569657
yeah season 3 was the best
>>
>>215567521
Didn't get past the first episode because every minute is anal this, anal that
>>
>>215568862
It was so bad
>>
>>215567521
Try hard, edgy breaking bad
>>
>>215567521

None of the schemes in S1 is how money laundering works.
>>
>>215567521
i'm watching it right now, in the middle of the final episode of the 2nd season.
decided to check it out because i loved The Black Rabbit and Bateman in it.
so far: great premise, wasted opportunity in storytelling (lot's of netflix shit, story is dumb and many characters and their actions are not believable), decent actors.
Still there is the possibility that it will become better, so i'll probably finish it.

i really hate this redneck bullshit, also that pastor ark was pulled out of some writers ass and pissed me off so much how dumb it is, grrr

Ruth a cute. That's the extent of my thoughts on it after four seasons.
>>
There are individually well acted and well directed scenes, but it never seems to be really be ABOUT anything, plotwise or theme wise, it's just a series of actions.
>>
>>215571060
i got the same feeling. that things and situations just happen out of nowhere so our characters have something to solve, usually something a bit over the top to keep the reddit/netflix audience hooked. not gonna lie, it keeps things entertaining but i would've preferred a more meticulous weaving of these story threads so that everything would've come together better in the final season, which didn't happen. the most egregious offense was the sudden killing off of different characters through the seasons when they should've kept them around through the whole show, which i think would've made season four more impactful
>>
>>215567521
I don't like it, the wife is anoying, the husband is a beta male
>>
>>215571338
marty has his based moments through the show, keep watching
>>
>>215571044
my thoughts as well
>>
>>215568862
last season had some problems but the ending itself, those last two episodes were literally perfect. The fuck are you talking about?
>>
What the fuck was with the car crash? They had that lined up as a plot point so much as opening the season with it and then when it actually happened they just all went back to work that same day and acted like nothing happened.

Idk if it was a change in writers or a too many cooks thing or what but it really fell apart as it went on. It could have been really good
>>
>>215567521
Temu breaking bad. Not entirely a bad thing though.
>>
>>215572552
>>215570429
it's nothiing like breaking bad. It feels much more like house of cards
>>
>>215572498
Nobody likes endings to any TV show, anon. No matter what anyone does, people will bitch about it unless it specifically satisfies them 100%, then they will go on the internet and complain it's awful and everyone agrees
No matter what series, it's the truth. Can you think of a single series that has a universally acclaimed ending?
Even the shows everyone loves, Sopranos, Seinfeld, Breaking Bad, everyone hates them, and then also hates them when they go on forever
>>
>>215572616
even fucking True Detective S1 has people piling on that it "ruined" it for them, as though if it wasn't specifically catered to their exact expectations, it sucks
>>
>>215567668
Really? It was set in Missouri the whole time? I always thought they were in Arkansas
>>
>>215571311
This is what we mean when we say a plot is contrived.
>>
>>215567521
>we have breaking bad at home
>>
>>215572616
>Breaking Bad
absolutely false
>>
A load of the problems with the fourth season come from it being planned to be the same length as the previous three, then suddenly getting extended to two halves of seven episodes. Originally the season was meant to end with Ruth killing Javier, instead that became the start of season 4.5, and everything after that had to be made up.
>>
>>215567668
they're not in the city, they're out in the sticks
>>
>>215573124
why though? didn't they want to make a season five?
>>
>>215572498
A lot of people were expecting karma to kick in and the Byrds to face some consequences. You know, because they were imagining what Ruth’s cooter tasted like instead of paying attention to the story
>>
>>215567521
Too blue.
>>
The redneck drug mafia villains were so fucking silly and completely lacking in any believable menace that it ruined the show for me.

IT DON'T GET ANY BLUER THAN THIS, ANON
>>
>>215573351
It was intended to be the last, and was, but Netflix suddenly extended the season into two longer halves during production, so they more or less got a season 5 they hadn't intended to have
>>
>>215574143
so was the whole series just gonna end with ruth killing javier?
>>
>>215574219
Seemingly. She would have lived in that ending. The role of Javier's mother was also greatly expanded from what it was originally, to fill the gap.
>>
>>215574445
interesting, where can i read more about this?
>>
One of the most frustrating shows I have ever watched. Constantly teasing major plot developments that never come, only to have actual shit happen off screen. Ending was atrocious and didn't mean anything.
