>spares the bad guy>leads to critical information of their stronghold being passed to their enemy which results in massive death, near loss of the battle and the entire worldWhat did Tolkien mean by this?
>>215569727dunno. it's weird how these stories preach mercy while showing you direct and disastrous consequences of that mercy
>>215569727>Do not be so quick to deal out death and judgement. It’s in the fucking movie. Basically by soaring Grima they set Saruman up to die.
>>215569769That makes no sense at all
>>215569727good guys try to be good no matter what consequences that may have.and also the king was going to execute that dude in fornt of everyone without even a trial, bad way to inspire loyalty on your people.
>>215569727Did they really call this nigga tongueworm?
>>215569800>without even a trialwho cares>bad way to inspire loyalty on your peoplewrong, executing extremely hated people is a popular move
>>215569727All Eowyn had to do was give him some pussy and he would have betrayed Saruman.
>>215569727In the book, Grima kills Saruman. Also, plenty of people were prepared to kill Gollum even as a sort of mercy, and it was Gollum he took the ring in to mount doom.
>>215569793By sparing grima, grima was then able to kill saruman
>enough blood has been spilled on his account > 10 times more blood gets spilled because he lives
>>215569891Eru has a plan. Vengeance belongs to God not man.
>>215569832>>215569847Gandalf was right in the middle of negotiating Saruman's safety with the goal of receiving information that would give them an edge in defeating Sauron. Grima stabbing Saruman and making the transfer of information impossible is another negative outcome of Aragorn sparing him.
>>215569914In the books Saruman dies after taking over the Shire. Gandalf never bothers interrogating him.
>>215569814its still a veeery veeery bad idea,if you are a king start killing people without adjusting to some basic rules.Thats why aragorn wanted to stop the shitshow so badly even if wormtongue was so disgusting.
>>215569800Aragorn executed Mouth of Sauron without a second thought
>>215569955He stopped him because he is a devout follower of Eru or whatever due to his elven upbringing.
>>215569960maybe he learned a lesson
>>215569960He doesn't do it in the book thoughbeit
>if you kill the bad guy you winYeah you did that 80 years ago, you can see the results now. >b-but...he wasn't...Nice hindsight, faggots.
>>215569946Gandalf does interrogate Saruman but all he does is shoot a fireball and Grima throws the palantir off the tower hoping to hit Gandalf and misses, which pisses Saruman off so he hits him.
Lord of the Rings was written in a gentler, more dignified age.And to be fair it hasn't really been disproven yet.Evil must be resisted but vanquished evil should be met with judgement and shown mercy.Sometimes it's worse to further embroil yourself with evil in doling out indiscriminate justice. I don't know how this would fit in with cases where evil people have the means to commit further acts of evil if not killed. But I sort of understand that doling out an executioner's sentence is a heavy act that stains the souls of the people who have to enact it, so it should be used sparingly and never trivialized.
>>215569727Did they even consider addressing the socio-economic conditions in Mordor before resorting to violence?
If you're too stupid to wrap your head around a fucking kids story you're retarded and not worth the time.
>>215569769Doesnt happen in the book. Sarumans fate is left unknown after he flees the shire
>>215570466>LOTR is star wars now
