>>215576149Then what is?>>215576301I can appreciate the humor in The Jerk, on paper all the jokes are funny, Steve Martin's performance is good, I just don't laugh and I don't know why. It's like eating a meal made of all your favorite things but still being hungry afterwards.
>>215576361My dad woke me up in the middle of the night because the jerk was on HBO and he wanted to show it to me. From the opening line of "I WAS BORN A POOR BLACK CHILD!" to the end I was laughing my head off. Its one of those movies I like so much I won't let myself rewatch it unless I'm super sick, or really depressed because I don't ever want the shine to wear off (and it never fails to make me feel better, Talladega nights is another one like it, it may well be the dumbest fucking movie ever made, but I laugh the whole way through.
Airplane>Top Secret>Naked Gun>Kentucky Fried MovieThey're all fantastic though, If Airplane is a 10, KFM is a solid 8Scary Movie 3 gets an honorable mention even though it was only one Zucker, the hat getting larger bit is one of the funniest things ever recorded, same with Hot Shots, both of them are great but I like the 2nd a bit more

I literally exist because of that movie, my dad took my mom to see it on their first date. I remember it came on tv, and he was so excited, he sat me down and had me watch it with him, and he told me that story, then my mom walks through the room, he shows her whats on, and she just walks out of the room muttering "Jesus what a stupid fucking movie!"
