Literally nobody wants to watch biopics anymore
>>
>>215581302
people's real lives are not interesting. dunno why they thought they would be
>>
>bruce springsteen biopic
boring boomer artist nobody cares about anymore
>syndey sweeney movie where she’s intentionally made not hot and her boobs are strapped down
gee I wonder why no one wanted to watch these
>>
>>215581302
Bohemian Rhapsody was ridiculously successful so they just suddenly assumed every musician biopic would be a success. I'm sure the Michael Jackson one will be successful but otherwise the fatigue has well and truly sunk in. To think we have not one but four Beatles biopics coming up.
>>
>>215581331
>dunno
>>
>>215581335
the mj one will have major controversy from one group or another depending on how they decide to go with it. I’m pretty sure there’s no way his insane fans will be happy no matter what they do with his story

I am not being hyperbolic when I say Bohemian Rhapsody is one of the worst films I have ever seen

>boring boomer artist nobody cares about anymore
I'm convinced he had a die-hard contingent of fans in the NY/NJ area so executives orchestrated an astroturfing campaign to convince everyone he was the real deal. I don't know of anyone who liked him apart from a song or two. I always thought he was fake as fuck
>>
>>215581302
>Literally nobody wants to watch biopics anymore
Good, they're fucking retarded.
>>
>>215581450
Yeah but it made a fuckload of money and that's what matters.
>>
>>215581333
I like Bruce Springsteen's music but I've never found his personal life interesting. I'm pretty sure by all reports his life was pretty much that of any struggling musicians until he was 25 when he found huge success virtually overnight and his career never waned after. He's a decent song writer and a great performer but most of his songs are sung from someone else's perspective.
>>
The only music biopics I would actually want to see are The Smiths, Kanye, and Beethoven. Shocked that there hasn't been a Beethoven movie besides the Gary Oldman one
>>
>>215581450
It made just shy of a billion dollars off a $50 million budget which is all any Hollywood executive cared about.
>>
>>215581331
fpbp
Biographies too. I walk past them at the bookstore and it just blows me away that people actually read them.
>>
>>215581335
I don't think they can have all the things about Michael Jackson in just one movie.
>>
It should be illegal to make a biopic about someone who's still alive
that said I like the poster
>>
>>215581302
Sweeney should just be playing hotties right now. Her roles should get more serious as her eggs run out.
>>
>>215581302
I do if they're good.
These two were mediocre at best. The end of Christy was very good. Sadly, the boxing scenes seemed low production to me compared to other boxing movies. The Claressa Shields movie from last year was better. Also, they progressed a lot of years in this movie, but none of the characters looked much older. They should have been given more makeup. I'm a boxing nut, so it was disappointing that it wasn't a lot better.

The first thing that turned me off about Springsteen was Jeremy Allan White and he looks way too dour to be Bruce. Even with the movie being about his depression, he just didn't fit. It was obviously a huge point in his life and the transition to becoming a megastar, but the movie was just boring. It also doesn't help viewership that a lot of Bruce's biggest fans are dying off year to year.

There were a bunch of good biopics last year, not so much this year.

We're entering the biopic cinematic universe phase now
>>
>>215581957
Making four separate movies telling the same story is a massive risk. Are we going to watch the same scenes over just from a different point of view? That's the same thing people didn't like about A House of Dynamite and that was just a 100 minute movie.
>>
>>215581302
Is it "bye-o-pic" or "bi-op-ic"?

>Biographies too. I walk past them at the bookstore and it just blows me away that people actually read them.
If a biography is (or was, at the time) written by a real person the chances are 100% are that, ghostwritten or not, anything that's put in their is essentially a slightly fictionalized version. I remember one day in church the pastor said that the late Corrie ten Boom was one of his personal heroes.

Most of what we know about Corrie ten Boom was from two books she wrote about her life, one dealing with the Holocaust and one in the time afterward. Of course she's going to gloss over any unpleasant details about her life, portraying herself as basically a saint with a fake flaw ("oh, I didn't enough faith") means that she really wasn't.

People can serve as role models but ideal heroes only exist in fiction.

They better hurry up and give us our Einstein movie with the guy from oppenhiemer

That's called an autobiography
>>
>>215582053
The former
>>
>>215582053
the second sounds too much like myopic
>>
The marketing for biopics relies too much on "legendary" status and having to overcome personal struggles before/after making it big

We all know they're the tortured artist meme and it just seems masturbatory. Yeah your life was so hard despite being rich and famous and literally being able to walk away from it all and never have to work again. So sad and relatable
>>
>>215581302
nobody wants to watch anything apart from twitch and tiktoks

Me? Waiting for the remakes of those biopics.
>>
>>215581452
>had a die-hard contingent of fans in the NY/NJ area
It's more that he's a name brand who happens to toe the line politically and culturally for Hollywood types. I just find it bizarre that they made a shitty Springsteen movie that was simultaneously sanitized AND niche.
>>215581302
>nobody wants to watch biopics
Make them better, properly promote them, and bring the prices (both for tickets and production) down. I remember when ads were around for Smashing Machine and nobody watched it because they had no idea what the fuck it was about from the ads.

Springsteen is more popular in Europe (especially the UK) than he is in the U.S. Brits have even made their own Springsteen movies.

just read the wikipedia page. way faster. gay ass retarded movies especially openheimer

I hate biopics, biographies and autobiographies.
They're just a reminder that even the "poor beginnings" famous and successful people had better starts in life than my family.

I love the Dan but a Steely Dan biopic would be incredibly boring. They had very little conflict in their career or anything close to a story. They were just two nerds who loved jazz and did drugs and made incredible music. Honestly it's pretty impressive that there is no Steely Dan drama (or at least any big enough for me to know about). You could probably make a cool trippy visuals musical with their stuff but the actual story behind their career is pretty boring.
>>
>>215584065
Springsteen is extremely popular and one of the most successful musicians of all time but because people like Born to Run doesn't mean they want to watch a movie about him composing Nebraska.
>>
>>215581302
Make them monke and then let's talk.
>>
I always like the beginning when they're struggling, but the moment they hit big and become famous is where I lose interest. This is why I like the first Rocky so much even though that's not a biopic. It's a guy working incredibly hard and in the end he doesn't win.
>>
>>215581302
Except there are more biopics being made than ever
>>
>>215581592
I didn't even know he was still alive. Wasn't he from the 50s or something? Never actually heard his music before.

>a small minority of npcs and a bunch of Indians watch them all
