I've been trying to find a film about a necromancer but every time I find a film that says it has one, the title of necromancer just used to mean evil wizard. Is it really that hard to get someone in a robe to raise the dead and send them out to attack people for a film?

All I can find that really matches is Army of Darkness. Are there any others?

>nerfed strength

Reading wikipedia, I feel like I should watch Riget given how much stuff it inspired. I'm guessing it being in Danish will make it even more strange.
>>
>>215583852
this was one of the worst things I have watched in the alien franchise
>>
>>215583905
It's also interesting how Riget was inspired by Twin Peaks, so much so that when Lynch did The Return Von Trier did his own revival season.
>>

The books created most of the alien lore. Fox hasn't retoconned the books, but promethues retoconned most of the lore established by the books, but Fox hasn't officially retoconned the books.

I hate when monsters are powerscaled down for plot. It's most egregious in a film where at the start they're invincible and at the end you can wrestle them like an angry dog, but in an Alien tv show it's just as bad because everyone knows what they are.

I just had an idea for a horror film, if you are a writer please steal it and make it into a film
Basically what if a company like OpenAI or one that does video generation had cursed data in its training data
The model was very successful but over time weird stuff starts to happen in people's lives, the model starts saying strange things which it immediately denies, it starts generating weird stuff in its videos like in the artifacts you'd normally expect there's just a very real eeriness about it, etc
People are quick to dismiss it, 'you just made the ai respond like that to your prompt, you aren't showing us the full context window' but over time it becomes uncanny
People investigate it and discover that there's cursed data which was used to train the model but nobody can track the source down
Basically the Ring/Kairo for the AI age
>>
>>215584188
Also I had this idea after watching an AI generated video of a sitcom and I had the thought in my head 'what if the characters just started screaming uncontrollably'

caveat (great and genuinely freaked me out with the corpse of the mom in the vent)
hand that rocks the cradle, 2025 (was just forgettable)
misery (really excellent)
deliverance ( expected more but still solid)
blackcoats daughter ( decent enough and the girls were pretty)
under the skin (enjoyed it a lot)
exorcism of jane doe (garbage waste of my time)
thirst (really fun little vampire flick)
possessor (great)
the brood (fun)
videodrome (didnt care for it that much honestly)

the one issue with this is AI is so complicated, it's basically already magic. I do like the seed of the idea though, that it was trained on ancient texts and accidentally figured out something from them.

This is why M3GAN was so shit. Chucky was a serial killer in dolls body, it had a cool backstory. M3GAN was just "wow what if girls could code!". Fucking so unimaginative compared to your idea.

Ohhh, also something from searching - apparently it was released in Japan as "Captain Supermarket".
It also makes the Campbells Soup joke make more sense.
So I think it says something more like "Captain Supermarket’s outrageous hyper-gag RPG… Enough making fun of me already!
It's either parodying a videogame cliche (given the Captain Supermarket part), or it's because the medieval setting would have been linked to RPGs like Final Fantasy.

Haven't seen the original miniseries in forever, and I never saw the new movies. I don't remember thinking the original was great, though. Initial answer to your question would be babyduck syndrome and the fact that, like with most remakes, people tend to view the originals more fondly after a remake is made.

I don't love or dislike either... but I did think welcome to derry was total shit

I think something the original definitely does better, is that he definitely captures that child like essence of the children characters. That in turn lets all the pennyworth stuff feel scarier because it's almost viewed through a kids lens.

Comparatively, and perhaps ironically, I think that Ch 1 and 2 have better child actors, but went after that grimdark seriousness too much, and in turn their horror often felt disjointed and almost like it was from a different movie at times (the grandma scene scurrying around jumps to mind). It doesn't help that the CGI is also pretty awful

Just finished. Man, a weird one. The main character is a detective novelist, so he narrates this hard-boiled style,.and it doesn't fit the tone at all. A pair of sisters are separated at childhood because one poisons the parents and is put in a mental hospital. Time jump 15 years and some convoluted mayhem begins. The setup and the result feel like they're from two different movies, and the movie is very script-driven. Felt like about 20 minutes were spent on conversation at a dinner party that had nothing to do with the plot. Lots of Italian names in the credits despite it being a Canadian flick. When I read posts like this I'm glad I stay away from Diznee/Hulu or anything even remotely linked to Ridley Scott after the garbage that was alien romulus, even before that there was raised by wolves which had Ridley's name on it & was total shit.
Stick Stephen King in the same catagory & you'll save yourself from having to watch anymore DEI bullshit, same with netflix & apple tv.

They had artwork that implied there would be planet sized aliens, which would have been something totally new to the franchise. Even the comics and games never had anything larger than a xenomorph dinosaur. But it turns out that literally had nothing to do with the show at all and it was just the same scale as everything else that came before.

The only reason I have faith that it'll be a return to kino is because of BASED Williamson.
>>
>>215585822
Splitting it up is never a good idea for this reason. In the book it alternates each chapter because as adults they have amnesia and are slowly recovering their memories about what they experienced as kids. That's part of the reason why it's called It because they keep getting mysterious phone calls saying "It's back." amd talking about "It." in panicked ways without any context for the reader. Combine that with the fact that It shape shifts and all of his appearances for like the first half of the novel are completely different forms (also without context) makes a big part of it tbe mystery of putting tigether what the villain even is.

The only part that gets hard is the ending because it's too similar that it gets a bit repetitive between the alternating time periods, but it would be much easier to rework that then to try to make the adult half work as a standalone when its not designed to do so.
>>
>>215586425
True but Stephen King's books are still good. I can't believe how they butchered The Long Walk, though. That was one of my favorites.
>>
>>215587632
Same, but I'm nervous. I feel like 6 was a fluke and considering all the Palestinians stuff that affected the production part of me is worried there's going to be a lot of pro-jew lecturing in it.
>>
Good boobas and the sideview boobs even better... BUT NO NUDITY? Truly disappointed with this film, John Carpenter is always on the right. 5/10 (Mostly because of all those gore kills out of frame but like 1)

It looks kino. Was worried for a second they were going to do a Halloween Resurrection but thankfully that seems like it's just a scene. Girls in the trailer are cute and blonde and dressed up nice, a teenage girl in pajamas scene, cool kills and such. I think it has a good chance of being kino. Only confusing part is I thought Courtney Cox got killed in the last one but maybe I'm misremembering.
>>215588590
They really should've. They added the same mistake with Wednesday by releasing it and all it's tie-in promo stuff in August-September. Like, I'm trying to go to the beach and stuff when that happens not get all spoopy. Maybe they thought it would have "back to school synergy" but if so they horrifically misunderstand the vibe they're supposed to be going for.

Finished watching it last night after seeing some anon(s?) constantly shill it here. I didn't know what to expect going into it since the posters looked like cheap shit and I avoided all synopsis, but yeah it was pretty good after the slow start. Good payoffs for everything and had some great body horror too. Not sure about checking out the sequels though since this felt like a pretty good self contained story.

Has anyone ever seen a ghost? Any good stories?
I got a short but good one
In Mexico, in a very small town, me and my cousins were walking around at night and when we got towards the edge of town, we all saw this lady in black calling us over, we noped the fuck out and ran. What's crazy about this story is you will hear many similar tales from other people who live in the smaller towns
>>
>>215590185
Critics give practically every piece of shit a good review these days, so it's generally not a good sign when a film is down in the 20s on RT - especially when the audience reviews align with the critic's.
>>
>>215589796
the sequel is ok. the continuation of Brigitte's story is fine (to a point) but the rest just gets in the way. it's more of a by-the-numbers horror film
the prequel is just cheap schlock. its story implications don't really matter. only reason to watch it is if you're a big fan of the sister characters. they aren't written well, but they're there

was sleeping over in a bunch of cabins with some friends inna woods
the cabins were built so that it was like a row of rooms right next to each other and we all slept in our own room but there were more rooms than us so some were left empty.
next day one of my friends complained about some kind of noise coming from the room right next to hers, so i took the key for it and was going to open it, but when i turned the key the door locked itself. so the door had been unlocked the entire night
but the thing was that if you pulled on the door it wouldn't budge, not even a little bit so no one would've been able to enter it
