All Pacino scenes are dumb and he hams it up hard, DeNiro's romance plot is underdeveloped and borderline nonsensical and cops getting on their trail because calling somebody "slick" is so far fetched. Movie gets carried by cinematography, the writting is poor

Yup, weak writing all around. I get what they were going for (niggas on opposite sides of the law "we're not so different, you and I" shit), but that's hardly worth 3h. Cinematography is fine, not great. Also, the remasters have wax raped the image.

What sells this movie is the (potential of the) idea of a highly competent group of thieves going to war with both the law and that money laundering guy they stole from in the beginning. Group of competent outlaw guys working themselves out of a rough spot thing, fairly thrilling. Sadly, the movie wastes your time with shitty melodrama and the different plotlines all resolve dissatisfyingly.
