It's more middle-eastern. In real-life, Tatooine is Tunisia. There's a huge influence of Dune and Lawrence of Arabia in Star Wars.

the heroes ride into a desert town and recruit an outlaw gunman from a saloon. now picrel, not really a 'Western' like it says, but didn't deserve the slating MST3K gave it.
