ITT: kino jump scares.
>>215601648Just watched picrel last night. Had a few good jump scares.
>>215601648>le heckin best reddit jumpscare ever
>>215602032The 4chan jumpscare is Lake Mungo.>inb5 not a jumpscareThat’s what makes it so good.
>>215602069I spent the last 8 minutes trying to remember any good jump scare I've seen and could only think of this
When there's a pennis on screen
>>215602203Not sure if it counts as a jump scare but Caveat had a good fright.
>>215602032Jump scares are 4chan, not Reddit. Epic heckin' dang atmospheric slowburns are Reddit
>>215601648
>>2156023064chan is reddit now. We are post-4chan. I hate it but this is where we’re at.
Drag me to hell
these are some jumpscares I saw recently>House of the Haunted Hillhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Z2H9ZfITBghad plenty of good jumpies, they're silly in their build-up but great in execution>Sistershttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNzFqRyfTngnot the best as you know something gonna happen, too much setup>Final Destinationhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jt2f-Zpe80a classic jump scare situation, a funny scare thanks to the drop deap dialogue and the closed street>Twin Peaks FWWMhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAGh_Fl4cMwI think I prefer the one in the show >>215602203>Death Shiphttps://youtu.be/o-kHN-eTr0o?si=PwiuvWQJzvBjn-2v&t=1717Good execution of a scare, but strange flick, I love the concept of a ship or an industry environment rebelling against humans, killing them with its own wires and machinery. But the twist here is just too much hollywood.
>>215603714>My Bloody Valentinehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEPlR_MVzcghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNhZmdj_UcMI don't know if you can call all of these jump scares, the 3d effect sure made them less jumpy and scary>The Dentist 2https://youtu.be/fUfFK4GdUbY?si=gozLpdNdgYPAH7lQ&t=127just growse>High TensionThere's a few jumpscares but mostly wanted to mention how tense it is, or at least how tense the main character is, always putting herself in the most awkward and scary situations.>Anguishmaybe not much of jump scare but there's actual footage from an eye operation which made me jump>Devil's Passhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7Y2cLFq47gfelt like this movie was a cheap mix of Inland Empire and Blair Witch Project and the jump scares were never really jumpy nor scary>Mute WitnessNSFW-warning?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OHdwlYrPdcintense, smart use of sound to let the mutey "speak">Maniachttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAogksvk5F8idk of Maniac was the first one to do it, but it's a bit dated, the bathroom door hiding has been done to death by now, so one could tell how it would go, still good enough, clearly inspiring since high tension totally copied the scene frame by frame
>>215601648This nearly gave me a heart attack the first time I watched it. I had to go make some tea and chill out right afterwards
>>215601648It's behind me isnt it
VAMANOS CHILDREN VAMANOS
The alien first showing up in Signs.
Dianes face in mulholland dr
Mulholland Drive. I don't feel like looking for a webm.
Pump and dump scares
>>215605496hey there's someone behind this guy
>>215605496i havent seen this movie and i always think this is a lame darth maul or something behind him
>>215601648I always think of this scene whenever I'm walking very fast and determinately
The screamTHUMP in the first PA always comes to mindIn general the key to a good jump-scare seems to be you actually have to devote an entire scene to building tension for ONE scare, you can't just have the music go quiet for a few seconds beforehand
>>215606081I always think of it whenever I'm stalking women
>>215606088I can't remember which sequel it is but one that got me was where this woman is standing in her kitchen trying to calm down and all of a sudden every cupboard and door slams open
i don't watch horror so this is my only entry
>>215601648Some of the most memorable jump scares for me aren't in horror movies at all.
>>215601648This one got me goodhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnrT_zyumAM
>>215602304This shit made me turn off the tv, nothing scares me anymore since noroi.
>>215606176pretty sure thats the 2nd one with the security cams around the house.
>>215606070the makeup is very darth maul coded in this scene but it doesn't come across that way any other time, really, it's more 'generic demon' in the other scenes he's visible
>>215606199startlingly close to how falling asleep at the wheel can feel
I'm not against jump scares - they're fine here and there - but I don't think any are all that memorable. They're cheap scares, and can be fun if used sparingly. I think they're most effective when you're a kid. The jump scare which will always be the most memorable to me is the opening of Ghostbusters with the librarian. It was the first movie I ever watched.>>215601648>this made boomers piss and shid themselvesPeople talk about this jump scare as if it's some next level shit, but it's just a typical slasher jump scare in an otherwise dull, bloated film, filled with talking.>>215604483High Tension? More like Zero Tension.
This one got me good
>>215602203
>>215607540No it didn't
>>215601648https://youtu.be/G8LFp_TrfHo?si=a76I9D_0xcolVQjx
>>215601648Loved this movie. But highly recommend watching the directors cut which is far better and cuts the retarded exorcism scene that was shoe horned in by execs
>>215607816It did you faggot
>>215602203https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9N99SstPmNA
>>215607841Nope, you saw that on some yt list of jump scares and made it a part of your fake persona
spooky scary movies are one thing, but it's stupid shit like this that catches me off-guard
>>215607885Keep coming up with schizo headcanon. It suits you
>>215602203FIREWALKWITHMEMEEEEEEEEE
>>215605496
>>215602306jumpscares are for middleschoolers you faggotaesthetics, atmosphere and a building unsettling feeling is what true horror is.
>>215608046>>215608046>jumpscares are for middleschoolers you faggott. anon, 19 years old
>>215602032>I much prefer an atmospheric slow burn over cheap jumpscares. Monsters? Not my thing, now mental illness, that's scary...
>>215608170im 36
Not really a jump scare I guess.
>>215608320i hate a24 so much its unreal
>>215601648this one made me paranoid for a little while
>>215607917whats crazy about this is she hits the ball correctly and sends it away. its an entirely different ball that comes from the left that comes at you
>>215601648I truly believe this is one of the best scenes in any movie. The movie itself is pretty average for a 90s movie but that 3 minute scene elevates it to god tier. I saw exorcist 3 when it came out and always remembered this scene. So good
>>215608586i think 3 is the best exorcist movie out of them all
The librarian ghost at the beginning of Ghostbusters scared me. Granted it was the first movie I saw in the theater back in the early 80s but it scared me. Its not scary now but I'll never forget it and it might be the scariest thing I've ever seen in a movie. Perfect storm of being a kid and not really knowing movies could scare you
>>215608633I do too. I always thought the first two were average and never got the hype. The third isn't a masterpiece or anything but it's decent enough and memorable
>>215605496>this scene>instead of not the last scene
>>215602304Noroi ending is one of my favorites from horror, that's for sure. All prior that the movie is kinda meh tho
>>215608320>It Comes At NightNo basedcuck likes this movie. It’s not even a horror film. The trailer was a bunch of nightmare scenes that tricked you. As was the title. Nothing comes at night. Nothing happens except apocalypse movie where white guy is suspicious and whacks black guy the end.
>>215608798I saw that movie in the theatre when it came out and it sucked shit through a straw. Boring, made no sense and no monster>The real monster is human fear Give me a break
>>215608021>>215606409>>215608348
>>215608873unsettling
>>215608873>le generational traumai shivered
>>215608320>>215608320>jumpscares are lame and badThat's just true though. They require no effort and only work because of basic human instinct. Same with gore and sex. It takes work to genuinely scare, disgust, or arose someone without just appealing to their base instincts. Anyone that can't is just a hack.
>>215609053Nice basedgument. Jumpscares are an important part of any horror, always have been. Building up tension without a real scare is like fucking without cumming
>>215609098
>>215602032you probably love hereditary
>>215609098>Building up tension without a real scareNot what I said, though thank you I agree my argument was based. You can have your scares but you need to earn them and you can't just rely on the suprise factor. Most of the horror movies you simp for likely just have shit pop on the screen randomly and call it scary. You are the söyjak, I am the Chad.
>>215608958that stuff is weak, but the idea of your own bloated corpse slowly floating to confront you at night is extremely scary. The stuff where they discover the neighbour sneaking in the house is spooky too.
>>215608958>>215609416You keep saying this, but that's only because you've never seen REAL generational trauma. Just because a bunch of Tumblr Reddit lesbians usurped the term and used it to apply to being forced to go to church on Sunday, doesn't make the concept any less suited for a horror movie. Some people have parents who were rapists, murderers, drug addicts, psychopaths, anything you can think of. The leaves it's mark on people and a horror movie that properly manifests it would be cool. Stop your bitching is what I'm getting at.
>>215609486>Muh trauma>stop your bitchingIronic
>>215609517I accept your concession
>JUMPSCARE BAD
>>215606199Better kill kim!
what the fuck is this gay discussion about jumpscares? good jumpscares are good and bad jumpscares are bad
>>215609598good one
>3 tickets for the latest jump scare-free bone chilling A24 horror movie please, later I'm going to take my wife's son down to the hot sauce convention at the barcade
>>215610289I'd love to see how dysgenic the chuds who post this kind of shit look.
>>215608046the obsession with spine-chilling slow burn horror died with Reddit
>I'd love to see how dysgenic the chuds who post this kind of shit look.
>>215607492>an otherwise dull, bloated film, filled with talking.I don't think I've ever seen another movie that screamed "author directing his first film" as much as Exorcist III.
reddit - the jumpscare
There is a scene where all cupboards and drawers open with a fucking loud sound in some Paranormal Acitivity movie, that fucked me up good
>>215610540It's this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqJSc4WySE8
>>215610559>this gave zoomers heart attacksgrim
I`m immune to jump scares but the Good Boy`s dog house got me for some reason
>>215607784the jumpscare is whatever, but the conversation in the diner is timeless
>>215608520It came out of left field
>>215611810Ok
>>215602324I find this hilarious asf now
>>215610289>Meaningless jumpscares based>Actual storytelling, tension, atmosphere, lighting, tone, music, dread, etc doesn't matter and caring about that is onionsWhy do you like horror? Just go watch screamer videos from back in the day. That should be everything you want in a horror movie without all the gay shit, right? Oh no you're just retarded.
>>215602466Redditor opinion
>>215606088>building tension for ONE scareThis can be embiggened by making the audience relax a bit by having a false scare, such as a phone ringing, then hit them with the actual scare shortly afterwards. That's how Hitchcock did it.
>>215608021Kek saved, thanks
I hate these thread because i never know if the file i opened has a jumpscare or not
