What a stupid fucking premise. Do they really expect us to watch this slop?
>>215603820Oh yeah I wanted to watch this thanks for reminding me
>>215603820It's a metaphor
I was prepared to hate on this movie but they actually do a good job with tension and having interesting characters most of the movie. Poor ending, like most Stephen King stories.
>>215603820It wasn't bad, but why weren't any women expected to participate?
>>215603820Dude it's important Social Commentary on important social issues like how Drumpf is walking people to death or something.
Marathoned it last week, I like it, it was alright
It was very mediocre and just fine. I half expected it to be super cliched character after the first 10 minutes.
>>215603820the ending was very disappointing
>>215603820i turned it off after i skipped through and saw a quadroon on every frame
>>215605749>Dude don't die>Ahhh I'm gonna die>No dude I am>Woah nah don't dude
high concept movies are always fun unless you're a boring asshole that thinks too highly of himself Was the movie genuinely good? No. Was it fun? Yeah.
>>215603820I loved the book when I read it a few years ago, it was surprising how good it was with such a simple premise.I liked the movie, not bad, but obviously can't beat the book
>>215603820It doesn't matter if you watch it or not. You're living it.
>>215605497It takes place in the 70s though in an alternate version of reality. But yeah, chosing to adapt it into a movie now is probably a conscious political choice.
>>215603820I liked how the characters never once mentioned race despite being whites and blacks and asians. It remiinded me how a lot of media from the 80s and 90s portrayed interracial friendships. That type of portrayal is probably better for race relations than what we are used to now when every movie must mention race and racism in one way or another.
>>215605125can't walk 500 miles with boner
>>215606414What kind of Asian is named Olson?
>>215606518An adopted one
>Don't choose revenge bro!>Nah, Imma chimp out and get revenge!
I fell for the shilling and should have turned it off after the first walker got shot. What a fucking waste of time. The ending was a final slap in the face. Weapons turned out to be way more engaging and less retarded.
>>215603820>walks 300 miles without a rest>nah bro, it's just a movie, you can't judge its realismThis is the same as if the movie introduced characters that are able to jump 400 feet and lift 15 000 lbs. Is Stephen King retarded?
The movie takes place in the future right? So why aren't they all Hispanic and named Hernandez?
>>215603820Book was decent so I'll watch it when it streams. Watching movies is inherently lowbrow anyway.
>>215603820let me guess the black guy wins at the end?
>>215607201yes, white guy next to him sacrifices himself to have the black guy win.
i liked it. haven’t read the book but if the movie is anything like something that came out in the late 70s having a poignant look at choices/free will under coercive and sometimes even subversive systems is quite meta. esp at a time when most of the horrors of vietnam had been not forgotten, but brushed under the rug, and as such the american exceptionalism was back en vogue. i liked the characters, they seemed real and the chemistry was there between the actors. good comedy at moments. there were some times when the acting seemed a little stilted, esp with the guy they kept calling a murderer, might’ve been the weakest performance towards the end. i know they were going for a man america is poor now type of thing but anyone who’s ever driven through the deep south knows there is huge swathes of land that look like they’re still stuck in the depression so it didn’t really sell it for me. i’m not sure how else they would’ve ended the movie but it did feel a little underwhelming. ig david lynch was right (i hate him but you gotta recognize real) when he said audiences are addicted to finality. i want to know more about the world in which these character inhabit but i know it would only make it worse when they threads start to come apart
>>215604870The book unironically has a way more interesting ending.
>>215604870>they actually do a good job with tensionYou what? They don't give a single fuck when one of them gets shot >Oh, Bob is dead, anyway what's you favorite drink guys?>We lost 13 guys this night... Fuck my gourd is empty, refill please! That's your tension lmao
>>215606381>>215605497no, it's an allegory for the draft and vietnam war
>>215608014I think it doesnt fully work because even in vietnam draft, a pointless war in a sense that us wouldnt even gained much from winning, it was mandatory. It's wishy washy "we are basically forced into it because we have no other choice" does not reflect real draft and war where men are literally forced into it
black guy was gay, right?
David Jonsson actually seems to be a pretty good actor. He was the best one in this and Alien Romulus. As usual when you notice a decent actor in an American production, he’s in fact English.
>>215603820I would have watched it if it was women instead just to watch them piss themselves and have one of them pull her pants down and shit out of her visible asshole like they did in this gay ass movie. Im nasty.
>>215603820haha he said the thing! say it again say it again!
