It was ok even if they made Superman too much of a jobber/weakling who had to be saved by a 220IQ Dr Manhattan negro and strong independent woman. Superman's weakness are his human emotions which mean he can be blackmailed etc. The bit where he loved his alien parents to the point where he kept replaying their message only to suddenly do 180 and love his earth parents at the end felt weird and poorly written. Still, definitely better and more cohesive than Man of Steel.

Box office generally isn't what it was before covid, a lot of people stayed home and got used to waiting for everything to come out on streaming. Man of Steel wouldn't even manage those numbers if it came out in 2024.

Gunn made soulless and boring slop with a hysterical loser Superman. Suicide Squad 2 bombing at the box office and Peacemaker being trash didn't help.
