dumb question, but I’ve never actually seen a classic mummy movie (as in, anything pre-Brendan Fraser)
What are the mummy’s powers supposed to be?
It looks like they just walk really slow and stalk anyone who opens their tomb

Not a dumb question at all — in fact, it’s a great one, because the “classic mummy” has gone through a few evolutions!
You’re absolutely right that in most early mummy movies — especially the 1932 The Mummy with Boris Karloff — the creature isn’t some superpowered monster tearing people apart. It’s more of a supernaturally cursed revenant with a tragic backstory and a slow, eerie presence.
Here’s a rundown of what the mummy’s powers traditionally were in those early versions:
The 1932 Universal The Mummy (Boris Karloff)
Regeneration/immortality: Imhotep (Karloff’s mummy) comes back to life after an archaeologist reads a forbidden scroll. He isn’t a bandaged shambling corpse for long — he disguises himself as a modern Egyptian named Ardath Bey.
Hypnosis/mind control: He has an intense stare and can hypnotize people, especially the reincarnation of his lost love, Ankhesenamun.
Reincarnation obsession: His main “goal” is to resurrect his lover by killing her modern incarnation and reviving her spirit.
Telepathic or psychic influence: He can command others from afar or sense when someone meddles with his tomb
Curses: His very existence (and the scroll) carry death curses — usually anyone who disturbs the tomb dies mysteriously
So, he’s not a brawler or speedster; he’s a slow, inevitable supernatural force — more gothic romance than action horror
The 1940s sequels (The Mummy’s Hand, The Mummy’s Tomb, etc.)
These turned the mummy into a more typical monster-movie creature:
Superhuman strength: Could crush or strangle people easily
Invulnerability: Bullets and fire didn’t always stop him
Cursed servitude: Often controlled by priests of an ancient cult to punish tomb robbers or enemies
Slow, relentless pursuit: The “shambling mummy” trope really took hold here — think of it like the proto–Michael Myers
So yeah — in the classics, the mummy wasn’t really about spectacle or combat. The horror came from atmosphere, inevitability, and the curse of disturbing the dead

Watched 3 movies this morning, 1 is a rewatch:

>Hell House LLC: Lineage
I don't understand the hate for this or all the 1/10 ratings. I swear, people have zero fucking clue what a 1/10 movie is. I hate that it's not FF and the lead's bitching and crying gets old incredibly fast. The movie dumps a ton of series lore at you, and the clowns are overused. Does that make it a shit movie? No. Just like with Halloween Resurrection, my love of the series is probably clouding my judgment. Oh well, it's my opinion and that's all that matters to me.
>Home For Rent
I liked it, but as a 6/10 at best movie. The ending is a little depressing, actually. The cult stuff was cool, but wasn't really explained much. A sequel would be much welcomed as they can go a few ways with it. The use of leaving gaps and then filling them in after the fact gets a little old as it happens like 4 times. At some point, it just seems like the writer was tacking it on.
>The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow (1949)
What more can anyone say, it's great and if you haven't seen it, you need to get on that ASAP.
>>

>my love of the series is probably clouding my judgment.
It 100% is. The only good section in the entire movie is the two walking in the Carmichael house. Also, every single kill is done outside of the frame. The ending was trash. There is only so much good will I can extend here

Starry Eyes was garbage.

Lineage was basically one big lore dump that wasn't very enjoyable for anyone who was watching it to be scared. And then they drop a To Be Continued while nothing interesting is happening.
>>
>>215608686
Disagree. The lone FF part with Hopewell was good. I did enjoy the lore dump, although it can be a bit much. I don't mind the ending, as it's no different from other movies that have cliffhanger/open type endings. Did I wish we got what was teased in 4 and then again in this one about the county fair starting back up and the cult rebuilding? Absolutely, but maybe it'll still happen eventually. "Final installment" means absolutely nothing in the horror genre.

I don't know what the point of posts like that is unless it's just AI fags trying to "prove" that people can be tricked into believing it was written by a human. No one actually types like that and it's fucking obvious. Maybe it's an autism thing. I remember some spammer on here freaking out when an anon correctly accused him of making a bunch of threads on the same topic. >I am growing fatigued from the same "whoa the clown moves" kill scene happening over and over across the span of several movies
It works much better when it's FF as camera movements play better with it. There's tension on the swingback to spotting what changed, or that little movement. With traditional it's always positioned right there in frame, and it's clearly moving, it loses the effect.
>It won't happen at all if he makes flops like this
I see it as the opposite. He'll be forced back to making a FF entry because that's what sold best.

Lel this basically killed trick or treating in my home region. Everyone used to do it in their own neighborhoods, then people started going to the rich neighborhoods because they gave out better stuff. Eventually this attracted vans of niggers from out of town who would assault people and destroy shit. Rich neighborhood said they weren't doing it anymore after an especially bad year.

Weapons was a strange case. On first watch the first 2 acts were a 9 because it was so fun watching it zig and zag, but the last act was a 6 or 7. On subsequent watches it flips IMO.

>Which one should I watch?

>>215612317
No.

Tried watching Immaculate the other day hoping for erotic Nun kino. Not only does the film look like they filmed it in somebody's closet, they went for the "realistic" look for the nuns and Sydney Sweeney looks terrible without makeup (plastic surgery is obvious) and every bathing scene (there's like three) had the chicks wear actual dresses while they showered so it wouldn't be "erotic" then the whole movie ended up being an anti-pregnancy story where being pregnant is the worst thing that could eher happen to you and its like a horror movie youll loae your teeth and the men wont listen to you or ask you how you're feeling.

Then she beats her baby to death with a rock and hes apparently a clone of our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ so they added blasphemy on top of the anti-natalism.

Never watch a movie made in Hollywood on the 21st century. Even old moviee are fillee with propaganda but they dont even know how to make them anymore. They just have the budget and people are used to watching their movies so their stuck in the habit refusing to admit the times have changed. I doubt Hollywood will ever make an even semi-entertaining movie again. My fiance literally was so excited for this movie she talked about it for like a year before we saw it and she asked if so wanted to watch something else like 40 minutes in.

My cousin's neighborhood stopped doing trick or treating altogether, due to "diverse" groups of kids with no costumes rolling up in cars and taking all the candy in the first half hour.
Sometimes they'd come back two or even three times, as if they wouldn't be recognized.

It's the same type of suburban life that leads to enclosed communities with security etc. They're a post civil rights white flight phenomenon, and do largely come out of the west coast originally, but they're more common and complex and have more power in the types of places that might want to segregate themselves from others
A lot of places where old money already owned land was developed too long ago and already had governance systems, but places developed since the 70s more commonly have HOAs. Enclosed communities are like the step beyond it, but they both serve the same purpose of only a certain kind of person can live here
