in a world of goblins, gremlins, and wraiths, there is nothing scarier than the blank pageWhat are you working on, /tv/?
>>215608461Thanks for starting this thread.
>>215608461I'm actually working on a drama film with a fantasy twist at the end.
>>215608884what's the twist, that the woman is actually cheating on her man with an elf?
>>215609142No.
>>215608461So aside from personal passion, it's pretty much pointless to try to be a screenwriter in 2025 right? It was already fucking impossible to break in (like 0.000001% of screenplays written get produced), now with AI it's basically literally impossible. I still have some projects I want to write, but I'm not gonna submit them to studios or even bother with competitions ($200+ to enter some competitions, lmfao), I'll probably just do a screenplay reading on my YouTube channel or something.
Put this on /lit/ instead. I actually want to write a movie. How do I get started? Also what do you guys use for inspiration.
>>215609207Learn format. Read some books.
>>215609234Like what. This thread doesn't provide any resources.
>>215609250Save the Cat might be a good start. Also, read screenplays.
>>215609250Save the Cat is the current popular one but Story by Robert McKee has some really good advice despite being shat on in recent years.
>>215609268Also yes read screenplays. Read screenplays of movies you've watched or will watch. Also check out the Black List screenplays, there are some really good ones. The Revenant was actually a Black List script and I actually liked the script more than the movie itself.
