The intensity is off the charts

I watched Hereditary like 5 years ago and and the simple lack of a violin stinger when the grandma ghost showed up in the corner was enough for me to get invested. But my real highlight of the movie is near the end when the mom is bashing her head against the attic door, it was a great ramp up for the end of the movie and I've been chasing that high ever since.

Reccommend me something like that you /hor/s

Didn’t make it to 31 movies but (mostly) happy with my list

Clown In A Cornfield (Eli Craig, 2025)
Death Walks On High Heels (Luciano Ercoli, 1971)
Lake Mungo (Joel Anderson, 2008)
Basket Case (Frank Henenlotter, 1982)
Class of Nuke ‘Em High (Lloyd Kaufman & Richard W. Haines, 1986)
MaXXXine (Ti West, 2024)
Jacob’s Ladder (Adrian Lyne, 1990)
A Dark Song (Liam Gavin, 2016)
The Vast Of Night (Andrew Patterson, 2019)
Motel Hell (Kevin Connor, 1980)
When Evil Lurks (Demián Rugna, 2023)
Violett (Steven J Mihaljevich, 2023)
Silver Bullet (Dan Attias, 1985)
The Substance (2024, Coralie Fargeat)
Revenge (2017, Coralie Fargeat)
Terrifier 3 (Damien Leone, 2024)
Aenigma (Lucio Fulci, 1987)
Re-Animator (Stuart Gordon, 1985)
An American Werewolf In London (John Landis, 1981)

I mean I didn't hate it but didn't love it either, highlight was probably killer Wong. I'm still confused about how certain people just talk about it like its the 2nd coming of the Rocky Horror Picture Show or something when there's much better straight horrors, action horrors, horror comedies, etc that have released this year

Any anons seen Baskin before?
>>
>>215622331
Yup.

>The opening to the novel gives a whole background on the history of the druid festival of Samhain, celebrated annually on October 31st. In it, Ireland's King Gwynwyll has betrothed his daughter Deirdre to the very capable Cullain. However, Enda, a deformed teenager who thinks he is in love with Deirdre, also wishes to win her hand. Deirdre, wanting nothing to do with Enda, rejects him soundly. Enda, not able to process this rejection, slits Cullain's throat with a butcher knife and stabs Deirdre in the chest. The whole tribe, enraged at his actions, gains their revenge by having the village shaman curse his bloodline for eternity, then tearing his body apart limb from limb. Just to be safe, they buried his head and heart in separate graves so that no one will ever be affected by his evil ever again. It is said that this is the bloodline that somehow still survived the generations and was passed down to Michael Myers.

Oh well. Still a perfect movie. I remember the first time I ever saw it was when I was a kid watching every sci fi and horror movie my little small town video rental had. We didn’t go to church a lot but for some reason we went the day after the night I watched it, and the whole service felt so eerie and weird because of that movie.

How so? The first was originally called The Babysitter Murders and the Halloween concept got added later and the second movie was unplanned when they made the first. The whole brother-sister angle was only thought up during the 2nd. I don't think the backstory was probably thought out at all in the original 2

Michael literally writes Samhain in blood on the wall in Halloween 2. In H2 Loomis recreates a druid fire sacrifice to stop Michael. And like I said, the general plot of Michael being the "Shape" - this wandering evil spirit who returns home is in keeping with actual Halloween (the celebration) lore. Loomis keeps suggesting Michael is an it/evil force/non-human in the shape of a man but not one. Halloween, the movie and the event, was about an evil spirit returning on the night of Halloween when that's made possible.
>>
>>215623220
>>215623053
Also

>Carpenter has often described Michael Myers as a "force of nature" or "an evil wind" rather than a mere human serial killer. He noted that making Michael explicitly human would lose the mystery and horror of an unexplainable evil.

>Hill confirmed that the story for Michael was based on the ancient Celtic/Druidic Samhain spirits lore, which involves human sacrifice and a roaming, soulless entity, lining up with Michael's nature in the original film.

When the spooks have a midnight jamboree
They break it up with fiendish glee
Ghosts are bad, but the one that's cursed
Is the Headless Horseman, he's the worst
(That's right, he's a fright
On Halloween night!)

When he goes a-joggin' 'cross the land
Holdin' his noggin in his hand
Demons take one look and groan
And hit the road for parts unknown
(Beware, take care, he rides alone!)

And there's no spook like a spook who's spurned
They don't like him, and he's really burned!
He swears to the longest day he's dead
He'll show them that he can get a head!

They say he's tired of his flamin' top
He's got a yen to make a swap
So he rides one night each year
To find a head in the hollow here

(Now he likes them little, he likes them big!
Part in the middle, or a wig!
Black or white or even red)
The Headless Horseman needs a head!

With a hip-hip and a clippity-clop
He's out lookin' for a top to chop!
So don't stop to figure out a plan
You can't reason with a headless man

Now if you doubt this tale is so
I met that spook just a year ago
Now I didn't stop for a second look
But made for the bridge that spans the brook
For once you cross that bridge, my friends
(The ghost is through, his power ends!)

So when you're riding home tonight
Make for the bridge with all your might!
He'll be down in the hollow there
He needs your head, look out, beware!

With a hip-hip and a clippity-clop
He's out looking for a head to swap
So don't try to figure out a plan
You can't reason with a headless man!

I am watching IT 1993 and I can’t help but think how black characters influenced the minds of Americans. Even movies like Night of the Living Dead had a black person in it. Just another dei hire like the rest. I can’t unsee most black characters as dei hires unless it really is some social group in a movie like Scream or something. Even then, it comes off as unnatural because the majority of black people irl dont speak in sentences. They can barely form a thought that isnt based on basic instinct.
It is especially cringe when a movie doesn’t need a black character so they shove one in as a sheriff or psychiatrist or some other professional.
