Another mid Edgar Wright box office failure
>>
What went Wright (wrong)?
>>
>>215623185
It has none of the charm of the original.
It's another example of "we can substitute a personality with putting a boomer song in the trailer in-between select quips, right?"
>>
>>215623185
yikes so much for all the advertisement this movie had
>>
AHHH SIMON PEGG SAVE ME AHHHH
>>
>>215623185
How am I supposed to get schadenfreude over Hollywood flops if there's nothing making a profit by comparison?
>>
>>215623185
why are movie budgets so insane these days?
>>
>>215623185
Too many niggers on the poster.
>>
>>215623185
It’s not out yet
>>
>>215623768
Pegg + Wright were magical. What went wrong?
>>
>>215623854

you can just say black people and there are two of them
>>
>>215623699
Only Brolin has a personality on the poster. Zero emotions on the upper right side.
>>
>>215623879
Projections
>>
>>215623890
Pegg wrote everything. Wright just sat behind the camera like a cuck
>>
>>215623896
Stfu nigger. They’re not even human.
>>
280M WW would be a huge success though?

>Edgar Wright
lmao I didn't even know he was still directing shit
>>
>>215624344
If the budget is under 100M yes
>>
>>215624868
It's like 50m
>>
>>215624868
Budget is probably 70-90M at the most. Wright doesn't make expensive movies and they filmed it in the UK and Bulgaria where they get tons of tax breaks.
>>
>>215623854
Decent number of White men on the poster. Think positive.
>>
>from the director of baby driver
lol
>>
>>215623699
>none of the charm of the original
the original is a stephen king novel
the "original" is an arnie vehicle that had nothing to do with the novel
>>
>>215623185
Glen Powell is just awful
>>
>>215623185
That seems INCREDIBLY optimistic
>>
>>215623185
Have they seriously not learned over the past fucking DECADE that these modern Remakes of 80's Classics (that always manage to feel drab & sterile by comparison anyway) are condemned to at best "underperform" and at worst outright bomb, while leaving zero cultural footprint?

Did they learn nothing from the Remake of Total Recall? Robocop? Conan the Barbarian?
The exact same thing happened with those and with like 15 other times they tried the same thing: They never really made their money back, and everyone just forgot about their Remake and just watches/talks about the original instead.
>>
>>215626636
Let me add though, credit where credit is due:
Aside from the sheboon (who's at least small and in the corner), this relatively interesting looking, brightly colored and content-packed movie poster is at least a step in the right direction towards actually capturing the vivaciousness of the original 80's Classics and the culture that surrounded them.
>>
>>215623185
I wish they would stop trying to force this faggot into leading actor roles
>>
>>215623185
is this a sequel/remake of that movie with Schwarzenegger from 1987?
>>
>>215626636
remakes that stick closer to the original source material can work. See True Grit and the live action jungle book in just the last decade.

What you do still need is a tight screenplay charismatic actors and good direction. The remake needs to at least match the original in presentation to be successful.

>>215627596
remake of the 87 film but one that adapts the original short story premise much more closely.
>>
>>215626320
>an arnie vehicle
yes, that's where the charm lies
>>
>>215623185
this has mid written all over it
>>
>>215623185
looks more like the plot of the actual book ? If so should be decent, the first movie was kino though even if it was just the name that was similar to the story.
>>
>>215623185
fucking joggers
>>
>>215626636
>Remakes of 80's Classics
It's not a remake of the Arnold movie, it's the adaptation of the novel. The 80's film just took a couple of names from the book and the general premise of people being hunted in a reality show. Otherwise, the plot was nothing like the novel.
>>
R-rating gonna hurt it. Movies should be pg13 only. TDK is harder than godfather or alien. Just make pg13 and money is there.

Die hard 4 was more violent and more awesome than any movie before in that series.
>>
>>215623854
>darkie in the literal front and center
It's actually a good thing. Now I don't even need to waste my time watching the trailer
>>
How did this trash make over 100m. This world is a fuck.
>>
>>215623185
Wright still hasn't recovered from that Last Night in Soho flop. He's only done assignment hack work ever since. Pretty pathetic because he's friends with Tarantino and knows a lot about movies, made some funny stuff with Simon Pegg, it seemed like he would be making offbeat originals the rest of his career but now he's a completely irrelevant literalwho.
>>
>>215623185
>black romantic interest
heh, fuck off not watching
