Baloo's a sloth bear which are one of the smaller Bear species' but they're strong and ferocious enough to take on Tigers at least.

Much like the lemurs of madagascar that screech calls for alarm, and hide, when birds fly overhead, because there was a, now extinct, species of eagle that would swoop down, and pluck them out of the trees. Despite the fact that the bird has been extinct for millennia, they are still panicked at the sight of birds.
