Power Rangers 2017 infuriates me because I'm not sure I've ever seen a movie more embarrassed by its source material, and while that's never good for any movie adaptation, for something like Power Rangers it absolutely destroys it. What should be a fun, colorful superhero movie filled with shit like the Dino Zords and Squatt & Baboo and Pudgy Pig and a rock 'n' roll soundtrack is instead this ugly, meanspirited, dreary slog where the Rangers don't morph, Jason has a cliched "I don't want your life, dad!" plot, Trini's parents hate her because she's gay, and Kimberly is literally a unrepentant criminal. Of all the things I'd expect from a Power Rangers movie, being boring was never one of them.

I dunno, I guess it's a matter of taste, but personally I can't stand Reboot Alpha. OG Alpha is very clearly a robot - He's a Star Wars droid, essentially. The 2017 movie making him a weird little monkey-gremlin-creature is inexcusable. Just because he's made with "alien technology" (an excuse the filmmakers also used for the Zords' designs) doesn't mean he has to be an ugly little... thing.
