remind me again why /tv/ is so opposed to k-dramas?
anyway, I'm gonna watch You and Everything Else (2025) and post webms and screenshots, talk amongst yourselves.
>>
how about you post in the general you fucking wannabe bug
>>
>>215647500
no, the purpose of this thread requires discussion with people that don't watch kdramas, and they're not in the general.

bit of an over reaction don't you think? did one of your superman threads die for this one?
>>
>>215647640

>>
this but kdramas instead of dried anchovies
>>
>>215647488
/tv/ is like /co/. While a majority have their issues with western media they still prefer it over other countries movies because it is from their civilization.
>>
>>215647659
you're awfully melodramatic, you might like kdramas they can be like that too.

>>215647711
it's fun to learn about other cultures through media.
>>
buy an ad, shill
>>
I find alot of kdramas to be very shallow and uninteresting retellings of the same few stories on repeat. Same problem as alot of anime, long show that's mostly filler and the characters are uninteresting copypastes of a select few archetypes. There are some kdramas that stand out, but in general they're very repetitive.
>>
>>215647782
I don't see it, maybe it's because I like the trope and archetypes. Also I have western TV's obsession with plot driven narrative, it gives no room for the characters to actually breathe, sometimes "filler" is good for character development.
>>
>>215647871

I find your insistence on posting kdrama reaction images on every post no matter how inane to be off putting and autistic. I shant be watching any kdramas solely because of you as I now associate them with you who I have grown to dislike.
>>
>>215647948
I doubt you were going to.
>>
>>
>>215647871
my release only had the dubtitles for some reason, and it was mostly ok until the translator completely lost her mind during that oppa/sunbae.
So I've decided to only watch dubtitles from now on, not only is it funnier that way, but since sometimes they say the literal reverse than the audio it ends up training my understanding of korean.
>>
>>215648126
how did they deal with it? did they say boyfriend and classmate or something?
>>
>>215647488
>creative stories across many different genres
They're all infantilized so it doesn't really matter which "genre" you pick, it's all boring and sanitized.
>>
>>215648169
>it has to have hardcore simulated sex scenes and gore every episode or it's not serious
american smut tv has broken your brain
>>
>>215648169
This. They're incredibly boring amd formulaic and more often than not full of filler, slow motion and "comedy" just to pad out the run time. They are literally a chore to watch.
>>
>it's a beach episode
look, just like your animes
>>
>>215648187
>it has to be sanitized infantile escapism or else my mind can't take it
See? I can do that too.
Now give me an example of a show that isn't what I described. Give me the Korean Sopranos or Mad Men or True Detective - things made for adults, not for teenage girls and retards looking for Disney-tier escapism.
>>
>>215648260
there are plenty of serious shows not all kdramas are romcoms, this one is about a woman who is committing assisted suicide.
>>
>>215648260
nice list of reddit's favorite shows you got there
>>
>>215648277
>romance
>coming of age
>comedy
>drama
Shit for teenagers, got it.
Korea will never make a good show for adults.
>>
Why does my gf love watching these shows?
>>
>>215648156
they used his name in place of "sunbae". so the whole scene was "why do you call him [his name] instead of oppa" (despite the fact that every instance of oppa before was already replaced by names too). just didn't make a lick of sense.
>>
>>215648295
you're an idiot, just go back to watching your adult shows that prove you're a real adult then.
>>
>>215648296
did you watch it with her?
>>
that's it for episode 4
no explicit sex or violence so I guess it can't be serious .
even though it touches on suicide and how friends and family deal with it, but there are no mobsters so it can't be for adults.
>>
>>215648260
Nta and I kind of agree with you overall. Just that I never had any desire to rewatch Sopranos or Mad Men. While there's a couple of absolutely masterful korean shows I rewatch every other year (My Mister, Mother).

Anyway, the show OP is posting about is way better than it may looks like. It flows like a Kazuo Ishiguro novel; it's probably inspired by Never Let Me Go to be honest, I'd bet good money on it.
>>
wtf is her problem
the bother committed suicide
>>
on to episode 5
>>
>>215648627
>15 eps
they should have cut one or two during the college years, a bit too long and repetitive. the three other time periods were more interesting imo.
>>
>>215648666
one more middle school episode
>>
>yeah I find kdramas too childish
>watches this slop
zero self awareness
>>
>>
it's not a show for adults unless they explicitly show them having sex in the apartment before it goes to do his military service
>>
>>
>>
oh no is it about to get saucy
>>
i'm trying to learn gookspeak so i switched over to watching kdramas, so far i haven't found one that's not completely retarded. i just gave up looking for quality and started watching ones where i like the main actress

oh no no no why does the rating take a nose dive for episode 6?
>>

incoming troonie. don't reveal the spoiler, it's a spoiler for ep7 but already strongly hinted in 6, could explain the low ratings.

I'm against them because I just can't stand watching Asian men. They're boring, can't act and aren't in any way masculine.
Asian women are elite though. If Kdramas were just White men and Asian women, I'd absolutely watch them.
