Who the fuck thought this was okay?
>>
I was too busy thinking about this.

Tron legacy walked so all the mid CGI face replacement could run
>>

YEAH?
>>

It doesn't look that bad, the problem is when you see it in motion.

It's actually kind of interesting in hindsight how the Tron franchise was Disney's test bed for destroying the integrity of cinema, from greenscreen-heavy CGI spectacles with no substance to CGI actor face replacements.

It was in a movie from 15 years ago. Also clearly one of those cases of a studio testing out its technology
>>
Never seen these movies, so are they about some guy that lives in a videogame?

The first one is about a guy who accidentally gets trapped in a computer system and has to survive and escape.
The second one is about that guy's son accidentally getting trapped in a new computer system created to be entered on purpose and he has to survive and escape.
The third one is about Jared Leto masturbating on-screen for 2 hours straight with a backing of industrial fart sounds.

If they didn't use it in the real world it would have been perfectly fine. You could maybe have a subtle implication that it's not undercooked CGI it's that the grid can't make a perfect clone of a real person. It'd be neat contrast with the quest for the perfect system when Clu himself is imperfect. They get to do their tech demo thing and acknowledge how it is at the same time. But they didn't do that so it's just undercooked CGI that's solely there as a tech demo.

Who told them these were good ideas?

I feel like they put him in the real world to set up that scene where Sam thinks Clu is his dad for like 20 seconds, so the audience would go along with it. The problem is that "twist" is completely inconsequential and doesn't require the audience being fooled for the scene to work, so they made the movie worse for no good reason.

It wasn't just that one scene where he thinks Clu is his dad. It was for every other scene involving Clu and the revelation that it was Clu that lured him there. Clu IS his dad, just from an earlier point in his life when he was in a completely different mindset

It was fine honestly. Yes, it's obviously CGI but Jeff Bridges has a cool voice. It makes the scenes enjoyable despite the CGI.

I don't think this really works when Flynn's original idea of the perfect system was a paradise for humans to live in and Clu's idea of the perfect system is a genocidal dictatorship.
