he did precisely 0. it's chin above bar, not eyes above bar. and he used leg drive on all of them.

What is an extremely good (top 5%) number of reps in pull-ups? Never did much training, just curious.
>>
>>215654705
if you can do 5 with good form you're doing better than marky mark
>>

wtf are those? they can't be chinups.
dude's not going all the way up.
dude's not going slow.
dude's convulsing his whole body in exactly the way you shouldn't.

fuck me, man, i'm a little puss, but can do 20 in a row with my legs pointed forward. dude somehow looks worse than a (searches google) p90x asshole

25 is pretty good, maybe 5-10%.

35+ is starting to push it very hard. it takes about 2 seconds to perform a pullup, just try hanging for a minute from a bar and you will realize why it is hard to do more than say 30 pullups. the tired trope of someone hanging from a large drop in movies is ridiculous, in real life people would lose their grip in about 20-30 seconds and die. a world class gymnast can hang on for maybe 5 minutes, say a male on rings who works his grip constantly under the static strain of supporting his entire bodyweight.

doing 10 is probably the bare minimum for a healthy adult male in the normal weight range.

When I did Parkour I hit something like 15 one time. Once you hit 10 it gets exponentially harder to do but if you're actually training properly and doing them twice a day then hitting 8 or 9 shouldn't take you more than a couple months of training (that's all the exercise I did for parkour aside from the act itself - two sets of pullups a day).

But yeah after 10 it gets way harder to continue doing more. Your core needs to be insanely strong. And I'm talking proper pull ups starting from a hanging and going all the way up and all the way back down to hanging.

You very rarely see people do a proper full pull up but if you ever want to do a muscle up you can't fuck around with half pull-ups. A muscle up felt equivalent to 8 or 9 pull-ups in my experience and I couldn't do it cleanly without issue until I could do 13 pull-ups without issue.
>>
>>215654797
I had a parkour group with a dozen guys who all had massive shoulders from all the pull-ups and core training we did.
The highest any of us did at our peak was 18. You have no fucking clue how to do a proper pull-up if you think 25 is even remotely possible for the average person. If you do it halfway then sure 25 is easy. Not when you drop to hanging every single time though

Sure you're not thinking of chin-ups? Those are easier
>>
>>215654415
I wouldn't do anything for the kids, I would listen to what they had to say. And that's what no one did.

What a confusing perspect, what the fuck is going on here? Why does he look like he is double the size of Ellen?
>>
>>215654705
If you train back properly and are lean, you should easily be able to do 10-12. If you then also train pull ups hard 25 is doable. Extremely good would be 30 plus. Which means not only a super strong back, but excellent perfect technique, and very good endurance. Most people don't do that though. Because it doesn't build muscle. They do weighted pullups for 8-10
>>
>>215654678
I get the feeling of waking up early but nigga you go to sleep before a toddler does lmao
>>
>>215654925
climbers need the endurance, not the extra mass
>>
>>215654969
100%. Climbers need to be like pro cyclists. But a gym bro/bodybuilder just wants size and strict pulls with bw doesn't increase size .
>>
>>215654881
the average person is not top 5% which is what he asked for. with pullups you are supposed to keep your shoulder girdle tight and only drop pause and not go to full hanging extension, the extra movement you were doing - hanging to disengaging the shoulder girdle to full dead hang to re-engaging to pulling probably fatigued you. since this exercise was invented by the military i just follow the same protocol they use to measure it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nzd7sWY277Y

this video demonstrates this clearly. it is important also to choose a wider grip for comfort. a narrow grip becomes a much harder exercise akin to a one armed pullup which requires at least the ability to perform 30 strict pullups.
>>
>>215654415
I barely workout but I can do 5 actual ones, this is embarrassing for the marky mark.
>>
>>215655010
I do them like that because that's what's required to pull yourself into a building or wall which I was doing a lot of. We didn't really do them to build muscles for any reason besides that. Same reason we never did any pullups.

So I guess doing 18 is pretty crazy
>>
>>215655051
Never did chin-ups*
>>
>>215654467
it's pretty clear he never actually trained pull ups before doing this
>>
You people are so fucking delusional. The average man can't even do 1 (ONE) pullup.
>>
>>215654705
10+ is probably top 5% if you look at the whole male population

bs

i am 6'0 and 160 and when i was training pullups constantly and the best i could do was around 5 full pullups

i could do a bar hang for around 60s
>>
>>215655239
Apparently you're not supposed to hang. I guess I was doing pull-ups the hard way my whole life.
>>
>>215655160
Bull shit. I'm weak as fuck and can still do it.
>>
>>215655160
Yeah this guy is correct. 25 - 50% of men will say "sure I can do a pull up" and then they will fucking jump to get over the bar lmao.

The number of men that can hang and pull their chin over the bar in a pull up form is easily less than 3% if not 1% because even if you workout if you don't actually do pullups you won't have the muscle to even start. You can lift weights all day, it won't help you do a pull-up one bit.

~97% will hang from the bar and make it maybe half an inch off the ground before collapsing.
>>
>>215654648
>cryo chamber (stand in front of freezer)
>>
>>215655051
you do a lot of plyo in parkour so you work your lower legs and build some explosive strength. most pullup nerds are like gymnasts and just focus on the number. if you can do something like 40-50 pushups and 15-20 pullups it's basically great sign of physical strength, add a decent 5 mile run and you qualify for special forces selection, which means you are elite for the military which already selects more fit and active members from the overall population.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QDt3kwKM7w

vitaly has been working on a one armed handstand pushup for a few years now, it's putting too much torque on your elbow so probably not a realistic exercise ever. for parkour is the equivalent of a landing a huge drop 5m+.

>>215655239
they heavily favour shorter people anon, you have long arms so the range of motion for you is like a double pull for someone with t-rex arms.
>>
>>215655160
the average man in 2025 is obese
>>
>>215655377
Oh yeah a drop like that would be fairly brutal, especially on concrete. I had two kinds of shoes, one were like kung-fu shoes that were glorified socks so you could get much more in-tune with your weight distribution and then a more traditional tennis shoe for when I wanted to do drops on concrete.

There was this one wall I loved to try running up that was a good 13 or 14 feet high and damn did it batter my feet falling from that height over and over again. You should have seen the look on the cops face when I proved I could actually get atop it though and wasn't just aimlessly running at a wall and kicking off for no reason lmao.

He told me something like "very impressive but don't do it again because the people working inside keep hearing a bang lol"

I knew it was easier for short people! They always tried to say the ratio was the same so it wasn't any easier.... bull shit. I'm nearly 6'3 and it felt like so far to pull myself up but then I see my 5'6 friend doing the same thing in half the time/distance as I was and I KNEW it couldn't be the same difficulty. He had so much less distance to pull!

Also that Vitaly guy is a freaking Greek god. What a badass.
>>
>>215655306
That's bullshit, I don't even lift but my will power is so strong I could do 50 pullups easily right now
>>
>>215655476
But he didn't do a single fucking one properly. If you're doing a charity event with pull-ups and you don't get your chin over the bar even once that's literally the worst thing that could happen short of you failing to do one at all.

Not a 0/10 but definitely a 1/10. I'm sure the full amount was agreed upon beforehand anyway otherwise the charity would have called him out lmao
>>
>>215655568
nah, the fact that those shit pullups counted was something he knew he could get away with. the retards casting it dont exercise so they dont have a clue, and if they try and disallow his pullups they'd come off as miserly
>>

>>
>>215655671
Aren't they talking about a height difference not a weight difference? If it takes less time for your body to be pulled up because you are shorter than you are doing a shorter body hang for the same number of pullups making it easier. Not to mention the force of gravity being harder to overcome the lower you hang from.

Body weight isn't mentioned
>>

I usually do 3 sets of 10 with a 45lb plate, 3 sets of 15 with a 25lb plate and 3 sets to failure with no weight. I’m also 5’10” and 200lbs.

Dead hang, chin over bar.
Anything else is pretense.
Also you have to alternate between chin over bar and back of the neck to get a full workout.
You start out lucky to do 3 straight before getting your ass kicked.
You get up to 10 straight hang pulls in a set and your back is going to look like Bruce Lee's.
When you go to pull start your lawn mower your going to rip the cowling off the engine.

Doing both is the basic requirement for pulling yourself atop a wall, you know, the only actual reason to do a pull up? Chin-ups btw have virtually no use unless you're a gymnast planning on flying around an industrial park with perfectly placed bars to hang on.

How hard is it to admit that doing a pull-up as though you're pulling yourself on a wall is the only real way to do it?

You will never do a muscle up without training like this. Even if you do 25 - 30 of these pussy pullups you will fail to complete a single muscle up without doing them for real. Sad.
