>Netflix actually makes something good and weird and interesting
>Cancels it immediately
Why?

Jewish subtext
>>
>>215655152
Not enough black trans people
>>
>>215655152
The Netflix exec that greenlit it left the company and their replacement cancelled their pet projects to make way for their own shit.
>>
>>215655152
Good, the world needs less Henslop
>>
>>215655152
I'm actually ok with this. both the movie and the one season are like fine old bottles of wine that you open for a special occasion and if you were to drink it all the time it would be inflationary and lessen the experience. better to let it rest again for a while and hope that there will be another return to Thra a few years down the line and it won't be pozzed Jew shit
>>
>>215655726
the exec behind it got moved out of their position because it was a latest in a string of expensives flops they'd backed.
>>
>>215655152
>creatures with big beaks drain life force, steal gelflings' stuff, kidnap them and suppress them
Yeah I wonder why they cancelled it lol
>>
>>215655152
it cost a fortune and nobody watched it, then a couple of months later the witcher hit and normies latched onto it bigly so they'd found their fantasy show to renew.
>>
you all supported the show by paying for a month of netflix and watching it on there, right?
>>
I'm glad at least that the season concluded at a place that felt something like a happy ending, but with of course hints of further adventures/battles to come. Those will likely never be made (outside comics or books, although those stories could get generated in AI eventually), but it's kind of like the original trilogy Star Wars when there was a sense of hinting at a larger world / galaxy but not necessarily getting to see it

But yes, it was disgusting they cancelled it. It was the best thing to be made in like a decade

The dark crystal series cost less than 100M. >>215655726 is right
>>
i could have saved deet
>>
>>215655152
According to Netflix, it was "too expensive" to continue producing.
>>
>>215655800
>won't be pozzed Jew shit
>Deet: I have two dads.
>>
>>215656388
If a show cost almost 100m to make and only four people watched it, yeah that's probably too expensive.
>>
Streaming boom encouraged them to take risks. Now things are in the fucking shitter we get sloppy shit and Stranger Things: Retirement Home

These fuckers purchased Roald Dahl's entire life's work for a zillion dollars in 2021 and didn't make anything until an awful cheapass animated film this year
>>
>>215656432
it was very subtle though, there wasn't attention brought to it and as far as you know it was her dad and uncle or whomever

lame to include but too lowkey to be annoying

Tavra and Onica were lesbians in the books the show was loosely adapting but the show never really touched on that.
>>
>>215656465
>it was very subtle though
Slippery slope.
>>215656642
>in the books
Not canon.
>>
>>215656769
Writer was head of the show's story department and at any rate comics brought the relationship back.
>>
>>215656769
>Slippery slope.

Sure, but considering when the show was produced, it could have been so, so much worse. And considering that was the only gay bit, otherwise the show didn't really feel woke in tone, and as others are saying, really does provide very apt material for a certain subtext which should be all the more poignant for many people by now

I really do wonder if that possible subtext rankled a few higher ups. It may not have been intentional, but it's a fairly obvious one (like, really on the nose)
>>
>>215656866
>t may not have been intentional, but it's a fairly obvious one

Especially the whole "the Skeksis have ALWAYS been our greatest friends and allies!!"
>>
It was too weird for normalfags, hence Witcherslop and Rangs of Power succeeding with multiple seasons.
>>
>>215656992
>succeeding
Don't kid yourself. No one's watching that shite. It's artificially boosted by globohomo pundits & Netflix notoriously hides their true viewership numbers under "hours watched" to trick investors + normies.

Take your meds, the first season of the witcher was huge with normies and that toss a coin song shit was everywhere, it even charted in some countries.
>>
>>215657084
>it even charted in some countries.
Like I'll ever blindly believe inflated numbers.
>>
>>215656992
>Rangs of Power succeeding with multiple seasons
Amazon is contractually obligated by the Tolkien Estate to produce five seasons, and is Bezos' pet project, there's no way to know if it's successful or not.
>>
>>215657278
The good thing is it's pretty apparent to everyone that Rangs of Power is illegitimate slop and nobody regards it as canon

It's been this way for over a decade now; a lot of new additions to old stories or franchises are so bad that there's sort of a collective understanding that we can all just forget it happened. For instance, everyone recognizes the LOTR movies, but kind of act as if The Hobbit movies didn't happen. We have a sort of general consensus, collective 'headcanon' that edits / filters out the shitty cash grabs
>>
>>215657450
See also, the bad Ghostbusters reboot flops, so the studio just makes yet another Ghostbusters reboot to paper over it a couple years later

These things are treated with the flimsiest regard and we don't have to worry about the bad attempts as tarnishing the legacy of anything truly good
>>
>>215655152
>Netflix produces a series that paints the wealthy as parasitic cast of takers who base their civilization on lying to the general public to ensure a perpetuation of their slave races.
>The series focuses on how the wealthy create an illusory society founded on lies
>The series shows the unwashed masses freeing themselves by shedding the lies created by the ruling Elite
... you find it surprising that Netflix shut down an IP that was literally puppets explaining how Hollywood is run by the Skeksies?

>>215655799
He was a useful idiot and they killed hem when he figured out he was being used to corrupt children. Sesame Street normalized a bunch of bad (and abusive) behaviors for children.

Miss piggy hitting everyone all the time when they said something she didn't like (normalizing female violence directed at men)
The Cookie Monster making a joke of over eating and living like a slob (Normalizing sugar intake and poor hygiene)
Bert and Ernie normalizing homosexuality
Professor Honeydew normalizing torture and violence in scientific research.
Animal normalizing sexual assault
...once you see it it's obvious.
