Problem is 40k and it's lore isn't that mainstream and too expansive and you can't just loredump half the episode. Focusing on space marines, xenos or other organisations would need to much explanations beforehand. They should make a Band of brothers style series on something like Gaunt's ghosts first. Could keep the cost down and introduce viewers more slowly to the concepts and world of 40k. Slowly show what the state and size of the universe is, introduce the concept of chaos and chaos gods, then show how the imperium deals with something like it and chaos space marines (i e Inquisition, space marines etc).

just make it about orks vs guard with a couple space marines sprinkled in. no need to include complex elements like chaos in the first big movie.
