>>215668639>Moner's POV
Same thing with asthma, literally make believe shit. Usually an excuse that potheads mumble about.
I work in special ed as a 1on1 helper (tard wrangler). Last year I got assigned to a middle school kid who was 100% NOT autistic. His mom was single and didn't have a job, she just got him a diagnosis for the NEETbux. Total Munchausen by proxy. You could make a case that he had Asperger's, but for some stupid reason that's not in the DSM anymore and now there's no distinction between different types of autists on paper. According to the government, they're ALL drooling retards who can't be held liable for any of their behavior. This kid was a huge prick to just about everyone, students and teachers alike, and got in 4 fights in the span of a year, all of which just so happened to occur when I was on my lunch break (he would never start shit when I was in the room). He got expelled from his last school for punching the (female) principal in the face. The school wasn't allowed to suspend him because he was considered "special ed". His teachers weren't even allowed to give him homework, per his mother's instruction, and she would come into the office and start yelling if we ever reprimanded him for anything. He was an 8th grader, and his grades were better than most of his peers. His mom got upset when we switched him from the remedial to the grade level math classes because that weakened her case for having a retarded son and leeching off government programs. Horrible woman, she ended up pulling him out of the district when people caught on to her grift.I think a lot of autism cases have to do with some kid's cunty single mom doctor shopping until she gets the diagnosis she wants. The sad part is, at his core he was a really good kid, but he doesn't have much of a chance. That label will follow him around for the rest of his life whether he one day realizes it's bullshit or not. The most I could do is be a surrogate father and let him know I wasn't willing to put up with any of his bullshit, and that I wasn't buying the line that he wasn't capable of anything.
hes right outside of the super autistics, I hear endless people talk about bipolar, or ADHD, or whatever social disorder that allows them to be a prick. Majority of the time if these people didn't have doctor visits outside of innoculation/dentists/ and for real sickness and didn't have therapy they would turn out like any other person and just deal with their problems like any person in the challenging modern world. The over medicating is disgusting whether its anti depressants or even worse ADHD, so many people get adderall scripts just so they can do more with their time. Now schizophrenia some people have bullshit diagnosis but I know at least one person who is massively schizophrenic and its that kind of person that needs medicated, without his pills he obsesses over the demons in his house until hes camping in his backyard, or the neighbors screaming at him through the walls, or buying inner ear blockers to nullify the radios the government implanted in his ears. The meds turn him into a zombie which is sad but its tough seeing how deranged he gets.

It's a very social science concept, its all backed by correlations without much understanding of why they exist or how to accurately identify a mental state of 'autism'. There probably is something to it, in that it's been measured with MRIs etc that during synaptic pruning in childhood autistic people lose less neurons than "normie" people do. So there's probably a physical brain state that autistic people have which is real. It's certainly been heavily over diagnosed though and I find it's one of those conditions where people love to pin their intuitions onto. We've all experienced annoying people socially or people who act different so some people will just call that "autistic", or fastidious people will be called "autistic", or people with niche interests are called "autistic", or just people who make us feel insecure are called "autistic" to feel better, or people want to give up on trying so they call themselves "autistic". Culturally and socially the label has been a disaster

In the time since I’ve come to share Hopkins view on it. Yes some of us alternate between being spazzes, being obsessive, and being bored by tedious people & shit. So is everyone. If you’re lucky you find a place in this world and make it. For the rest of us there’s just getting by week after week until the cancer diagnosis comes in and then it’s the barrel of a gun. And that’s as good as it gets for everyone. At least you can decide to not put your kids through a lifetime in this garbage species.
>>215669916Yeah obviously there's people who are 'severely autistic', but there's no actual physical link between that and the most common usage of autism nowadays. Like what makes that person actually so fucked up are things like chromosome duplications or brain injuries and stuff, the 'autism' part doesn't really matter at all if we're trying to be accurate in a scientific way. We just call those people severely autistic people its an easy shorthand, and because historically that was an easy catch-all term for those types of people. Now it's extended to people without those kinds of mutations and it makes way less sense
How has no one mentioned this yetHe goes so fucking Gosling in this that the whole movie is agonyThis movie should actually be central 4chan mythology
>>215669681It's real, but it's not a "disorder". It's a type of person who doesn't fit very well into the world as it stands, and we blame the person, because it's easier than blaming the rest of the world. An autistic person wouldn't have been "disabled" 200 years ago. They would have been a valued worker or a monk, probably. How are you going to have a sensory overload over flashing lights or loud music, when literally none of that exists? How are you going to struggle socially when you already know everyone in your village? You're not.

>>215670433>So if you can overcome potentially debilitating traits and live a good life, the traits don't exist? No, if the traits aren't that debilitating in the first place, then they aren't part of an overbroad spectrum that effectively just umbrellas the idea of "not normie"It's retarded.

>>215670001Grouping people together based on perceived shared traits is just how the human brain tries to make sense of a chaotic reality. It’s easier to diagnose people who don’t fit in with autism than it is to examine each of their lives individually.
I got tested to see if I were autistic. Turns out I'm not. I'm more awkward and obsessive than Aykroyd has ever been. If I'm not on the spectrum then neither is he, simple as.Looking it up he wasn't even diagnosed. He probably read an online article somewhere and decided he was.

>>215670458At a certain point, it becomes helpful. >you are this kind of person, you may experience these kinds of difficulties, and you may find these specific resources or strategies helpfulYeah, of course all we're doing at a certain level is drawing a rough circle around particular group of people and saying "you're that thing", but you'll have to explain to me how that's bad, and how it's worse than what we used to do, which was just beat kids or socially ostracize people for acting weird.

The sensory issues and annoying childlike behavior that survive into adolescence and adulthood (screenching about change for instance) seem to be what autism is really about. Being antisocial and whatnot can by symptoms because if you and I react normally to a bright sunny day, and Timmy over there reacts poorly by being annoying, then we'll ostracize him. With the most cursory of cursory google searches I can see why autism can be a thing, yeah.

>>215670899Additionally, there are infinite ways to learn Chinese on the internet at this very moment, so it would be quite easy to do so. This is also a bad example because I have a highly autistic uncle who can read and write Chinese, but he cant' get a good job because he doesn't understand basic human social queues and has paranoid delusions.

>>215668613mhm. i concur. but it's a bit more specific then that. it is just basic human condition but the condition is how well you were taught to socialize at a young age. if your parents suck as people and had no friends then you weren't around healthy sociable adults and clearly not around other kids your age
>>215670905>why on Earth would I...Yeah, that's how autistic people feel about everything.Little things like how you will get socially rejected if you don't speak with the right inflection, or wear the right shoes, never get properly explained, and are almost completely incomprehensible.
>arrogant dunning-kruger boomer talking out of his assAutism is a neurological disorder, it's as real as it gets.Once brain scans improve there won't even be a need for a psychologist for diagnosis, just scan that tard brain.
>>215670928>it's really easyGo learn then. You have until tomorrow.
I've been on this board long enough to know that not only is it very real, but it's a huge fucking problem for society.
>>215670946I agree, which is what makes them so cool. Learning how to fit in is fucking lame. Some autistic people focus on making money and become extremely wealthy. Others focus on Sonic the Hedgehog and become lolcows. Pick your focus and use your autism for fun and profit.
>>215670938if your parents had no friends, they may have had autism, to be fair.

>>215670946>>why on Earth would I...>Yeah, that's how autistic people feel about everything. No, that's how lazy, spoiled, maladjusted people feel about everything. Stop being a permanent 5 year old.
>>215671043Ganbatte, anon-kun!
>>215671027Look at him avoiding responsibilities.
>>215671043Being homeless seems like one of the hardest jobs you can have, if you think about it. Sorry about your teeth and sense of despair, fren.
>>215671025It's also hard because you just lack any instincts for it.I'm aware people expect some eye contact, so I look the other person in the eyes, but all of it feels completely wrong, feels rude, and you're just constantly asking yourself "am I doing this right? was this too long? am I staring now? maybe I should try looking away a bit now?"
>>215670990The problem is, normal / neurotypical people don't need to "learn" it consciously. They have an innate feel for most of the social stuff that comes naturally to them, and they even struggle with expressing it in some super specific terms because they never ever even had to "think about it" and formalize it. Their brain / eyes / etc are just trained at instinctively feeling the right option - options in a dialogue, options for shoes, etc - without the need to "think about it and arrive at a conclusion".Autists are not devoid of this ability per se, but this ability is misapplied in them.I can easily see a difference between images that have been filtered a certain way, where normies literally say "these are the same picture".I have extremely good grammar (in my own native language, I'm ESL, so I'm sure my English here is retarded in some way) and I never ever had to "learn" it formally; I read a metric fuckton of books and other material as a kid (not online stuff, but actual books and magazines etc that had editors) and I ended up having an "innate" feel for good grammar. And I *can* formalize it, I *can* talk to you in depth about the grammar of my language, but I don't "need" it as such to use it properly. Meanwhile, normies, on the other hand, *do* need to regularly stop and think "hmmmm, which letter should be written here, let me remember that mnemonic rule from third grade...".In other words, autists generally *do* have the same ability to instinctively feel the right or wrong option in some situation, but it's very misapplied, and their ability ends up being quite useless in most real-world situations.

>>215671074Keep practicing, anon. No one is born with the instinct to fly an aircraft or weld metal, but tons of morons do it all day every day and get paid for it.
Excluding real autism (walking on tiptoes nonverbal shit) he's right. Most people use all that crap as an excuse to be lazy.
>>215670964True, But giving yourself that label only makes things worse unless you have a neurodivergence that can be treated with meds.
>>215671084>Meanwhile, normies, on the other hand, *do* need to regularly stop and think "hmmmm, which letter should be written here, let me remember that mnemonic rule from third grade...".I'm assuming you have stats for that.

>>215671042Okay, well firstly no one taught me programming at a young age (in spite of me showing an interest), secondly I don't have a computer degree because I found education too confusing and stressful and opted to work for an acquaintance for a few years instead, and thirdly I don't understand how to look for jobs or get through an interview, and when I ask people they just direct me to websites that do absolutely nothing to clear up the confusion.
>>215671044>just don't have a disability>just innately know all of the things we didn't tell you

>>215671117Look man anecdotal evidence doesn't mean anything when you're talking about humans like this. >>215671084I have the same thing with language. I just kind of innately "get it", but all of the rules that they tried to teach me in school seemed completely useless and nonsensical.I still don't really know what the difference between nouns and adjectives are. I don't care. it's stupid, and doesn't help me to convey a point. Whenever I learn, I just forget it a day later.
>>215671118Right. Do you imagine that to be an entry level job? Be it for someone who, let's say, recently graduated, or for someone who decides to switch careers into tech.To be Carmack (or similar), you need to have been born at the right timeframe (perhaps give or take some 5 years, depending on the country). It's the same old adage as the thought about "once in a century geniuses". Absolutely not a single one among the well-known thinkers of old wasn't all that special. I mean, yes, they were relatively special compared to the general population, but none of them were a once-in-a-century prodigy. They simply were the one who had the opportunity to break into their field. Meanwhile, someone equivalent to them was slaving from age 4 in a different field (a rice field) and lived and died a farmer despite having the same kind of brain. It's like that Indian mathematician who could have been one of the absolute all-time greats but died in his early 30s because he lived in some village in India. And that's a guy who *did* get his five minutes of fame, even had much more privileged white people trying to pull him out of his circumstances. Imagine how many don't get that kind of chance at all in the first place.
>>215671122>find actual human>practice interviews>repeat until it seems less awkwardIf one good thing came out of pickup culture it was that any sperg could, through rote repetition, get the point where talking to girls could eventually get even the saddest sperg a little bit of D grade pussy. The same is true for any other social skill. You and your kind seem committed to remaining in your current state.

>>215668613i used to work on fairground rides, one was a trampoline part where one kid must stay on one trampoline, some kid was jumping from one to the other and knocking younger kids over etc.. he ignored me when I told him to stop, I told him mom and she turned around and said he's autistic and turned back around. Once her back was turned I grabbed the little cunt and threw him to the floor and he started crying and kicked him off, she just grabbed him and walked away.I hate women and their retarded little badly behaved kids. Autism is not a fucking reason your kids an arsehole you honking whore.
>>215671151Anon, I'm going to have to flip it at you in return, have *you* ever talked to people?Because I'm not describing an esoteric astute observation. I'm describing normal everyday experiences. Look around you. Literally just whenever you next happen to be next to an apparently well-adjusted person who needs to write/type some formal document (not a Whatsapp chat), observe them.
>>215671169Nah, females just often go unnoticed because they tend to be much better at acting normal than males. The typical female autist is that shy quiet girl who still dresses like a little girl and is completely obsessed with ponies.

>>215671176We aren't talking about super geniuses. We are talking about garden variety autists who get along just fine once they find a niche. It takes effort and consistency, which is what no one wants to do.
>>215671208So why is it when I enter a noisy room where everyone else seems to be fine, I literally can't hear the conversation I'm supposed to be having, over the sounds of the room?
>>215671180That's literally part of the normal autism treatment, Applied Behavior Analysis. The point of a autism diagnosis is not to make the kid feel special but to know what's wrong with it and provide the most fitting treatment for it.I don't understand why people are mad at trying to understand what's wrong with people and figure out the most effective treatment for them.
>>215671211Of course no one is going to hire you with that fucked up attitude. You need to change your thinking, and focus on your outcomes. Why am I even wasting my time with this? Oh right, because I am autistically trying to help the lazy and stupid.
>>215671223You also need to know at least one person who is willing to put up with you, and allow you to work for them, which a lot of people simply aren't going to have access to.
>>215671203I'm taking real autism, not just spaghetti dropping. The "gets violent when you take a different route home" autism is almost exclusively male. But you're correct in that socially awkward women don't struggle with dating to the same level men do.
if autism was real brain scans would show it like it does CTE
>>215671251True. Also nowadays in most tech jobs you need to pass the filter of the HR Women From Hell (which is much more of a social-skill filter than a tech-skill filter).
>>215671249So, do what? Fake smile and behave like Jim Carrey? I'm telling you, none of this means anything to me.I am willing to work, and they can either give me the job or not give it to me. I don't know what more they expect.Do they want me to bring them presents, and show them pictures of my dog? How familiar is too familiar? When does acting cute cross over into acting rude? I have no idea. I've been getting this wrong my entire life.
>>215668613i honestly don't give a shit if it's real or just a label, the utilitarian value is what matters. it's a toolkit for handling social burnout, not going down hyper fixation rabbit holes on useless shit, and actually building habits so i don't procrastinate. it’s like what religion does, gives meaning to the suffering. sure, it's overused by ideologized academic elites who have their own agenda, whatever. but gaslighting people into believing this framework doesn't exist, when it could actually help them unfuck their lives and take better care of themselves is just as bad.
>>215671273It’s real if the psychology offices and pharmaceutical companies say it’s real.
>>215671232That's pretty normal. People in a noisy room miss half of what other people are saying and nod their heads and say yeah. Stop acting like a toddler and grow the fuck up.
>>215671223The modern world is just too socialized. In the past, an autist could find a nice quiet job where he won't have to deal with anyone, like a lighthouse keeper or something. Now, there's barely a job left without a fuck ton of HR nonsense and office politics bullshit. And autists just can't deal with that shit for long.
>>215671141I feel like male autism is more undiagnosed than female one. Females seem to fake it a lot more just by how well they are able to communicate and get social cues, and they get diagnosed with just for not going out for few months or being shunned by other women due looks(which happens often) which leaves them socially alienated and unsure what they did wrong.
I have "autism" (HFA sperg), it is bullshit, along with ADHD. I was diagnosed fairly early, before it was hip. It's really not so complicated as people make it. It's not the vaccines that causing autism in the womb, it's social deprivation in life. There's a direct correlation between the rates of faketism and tech reliance. Millennials started enjoying videogames more than real relationships and socialization which saw a minority off oddball autists appear. Ipads as a means of parenting caused those rates to skyrocket. It shouldn't take a genius to figure out that lack of socialisation hinders social skill development. I think there is a level of permanent damage but 90% of currently diagnosed autists could become neurotypical or passing if they are forced into social settings. You can cure most autism by getting a job.I still have high levels of anxiety that is exacerbated if I go recluse for too long.

They also appeal to the part of me that enjoys systems. Same reason I enjoyed train sets and lego as a child. There's a satisfying sense of order and logic to a well constructed video game.

You’re not providing anything useful to anyone, you’re making yourself feel good by grandstanding, elevating yourself to the position of judge, issuing your unqualified judgements and sentences down on others, and now telling yourself you’re doing it as a selfless act for others benefit. So you’re not just an egotistical narcissist but a messiah besides. Good job, savior of mankind.

>>215671381I do remember freaking out a few times as a child, because I was in a room and suddenly loud music started playing. I remember a friend showing me his drum kit once, and on the surface I was like "you're playing great", but I really just wanted him to stop. When it's too much, it's a sensation like the noise is inside my head, and I can't breathe.
>>215671417You are welcome.
>>215671400Based, I have the same feeling towards games. It's also why I didn't enjoy GTA San Andreas, for example. As opposed to 3 and Vice City. San Andreas for me was the point where the sandbox aspect was getting considerably out of hand and the game was becoming this nebulous loose set of experiences, as opposed to a straightforward experience.Although I was also the kind of guy to very often hyperfixate on the most random-ass shit in games. Spending forever in some room because I liked the "look and feel" of this room and it felt nice and cool to me to exist (virtually) in this room, like I was enjoying the experience of being in this cool spot. Instead of advancing through the game.I was also always very fond of the concept of these simplified virtual worlds, if that makes sense. In many ways, they were of course reminiscent of real world to some degree, but I liked how barebones and simple they were as opposed to the complex real world. This applied even to, let's say, maps in driving games, which featured some streets of some random cities. I was fucking fascinated by this very stripped down, very basic, very crystallized take on what "a city environment" is, complete with pedestrians idly walking along predetermined paths etc.I unironically think that I'd *love* to spend extended periods of time in some hypothetical very immersive VR in environments like this. Not in social hubs where you can interact with others and fuck Lara Croft while being Geralt or some shit. Just walk around these ghost-like cities with PS2 level of detail, take in the atmosphere of them, etc.
>>215671425They didn't make me autistic though. I like them because I was already autistic. Non-autistic people get different things out of video games. They treat them more like movies, or some kind of aspiration simulator. They want to play the game that lets them drive the car they want in real life. I don't get that at all.
>>215671432Learn Chinese or your mother coddled you too much.

>>215671455Yes, they are reinforcing your autism. You need to de-autist yourself in order to live a more fulfilling life. Doing things that make you uncomfortable is the correct path forward.
I just want a job where I don't have to socialize.I fell for the programming meme only for Indians to take away every job from autists unable to do good in interviews.
there's no profit to be made if it's just the human condition

No one had the internet back then either, so other children were your one source of entertainment, in a lot of cases.I'm not sure a lot of my friendships were really the good kind, in retrospect. I think they were just kind of keeping me around until something better came along. None of these people has ever bothered showing back up to see whether I killed myself or not.
>>215671488Nah, that's the absolute worst advice for an autist. An autist actually needs to first learn when he's uncomfortable, learn to understand it so he can learn how to cope with it. There's a weird unawareness of your own state that comes with autism.I used to sit with my heart pumping, cold sweat running over me, my stomach cramping, full of worries of not doing my task perfectly, and think "Hmm, did I eat something wrong?"
>>215671545Everyone has different stressors. I can't handle people chewing, and it has been an issue at my previous place of employment. I'm sure you can do things no one else can, and your efforts will surely yield the results you seek.

Don't drop off the face of the earth dramatically, just stop initiating meetups, activities together, small talk, etc. Don't shy away from these activities if they are offered to you, just stop initiating for a while. If the other person / the group of people doesn't reach out on their own with a checkup (or just with their own initiating of activities together), congrats, they were never your friends.

Some of us have certain buckets more full than others, and it gives us our varied difficulties and quirks. An actual advice from a fellow retard:Virtually no one who applies to these is qualified according to the job requirements. And those who successfully get the job also very often aren't qualified according to the job requirements.I'm dead serious.Normies apply REGARDLESS of whether or not they are qualified. They largely don't really think about it, they do this based on vibes. Also this works because the listed requirements are random-ass bullshit.I mean, yeah, the job of some strongman intimidating bouncer is "very obviously" not for you, and it's also not for a large percentage of normies. But anything more "civilized" is simply for people who can TALK THEIR WAY into the job. Confidence is like 85% of success here.Obviously this doesn't apply to suuuuper specialized jobs where you do actually genuinely need to have a specific skill set that you will use daily.

I used to work in high achieving private schools and the rates of diagnosis for ASD, Dyslexia/Dyscalculia and ADHD were far higher than the national average because it led to more advantages in exams.
