>90s shakespeare adaptation
Into the trash it goes. The last decade that could still make Shakespearian kino was the 80s.

Thank you for your valued opinion.

Ridiculous art production for the most ridiculous play. I loved all the anachronistic aspects of the sets that stem from the child's mind. What an ingenious workaround for the budget.

>>215672330
what exactly am i in for?

Watched about 15 minutes and got out of there. Too artsy fartsy.

You're a gatekeeping cunt and I don't even like Shakespeare
>>
>>215672330
is it less depressing than the play?

Produced by Steve Bannon

thats so insane

It's pronounced tee-tus.

alshually it's teaties

>and I don't even like Shakespeare
Then your opinion is irrelevant.

Probably the only thing worth watching by Julie Taymor, because the source material and the performances keep this from Taylor disappearing up her pretentious ass. That said, it's still pretty pretentious, and has some really awful looking shit throughout.

>an ingenious workaround for the budget
You think she just did that because of budgetary constraint? You're wrong.

I literally said it stems from the child's mind hence why there are cars, modern weapons and compound bows. But it is certainly easier on the budget for you to just film scenes in front of the Mussolini building and retain the dictatorial Rome aesthetics just with an anachronistic flavor.
>>
>>215672330
Is it as fucked up as the original story?
>>
>>215672366
Well, I do like Shakespeare and I'm going to watch this. TA was apparently one of his least successful productions during his lifetime, but you can't hate Anthony Hopkins.
>>
>>215673781
You also said it was a workaround for the budget, which it's not.
>>
>>215673905
Yeah as a bonus. Why are you sperging out? Are you going to pretend that none of the decisions in terms of sets or costumes were ever rounded up with an idea that child's notion of minimalist and anachronistic sets and props would let them get away with cheaper option?

Give us the proudest prisoner of the Goths,
That we may hew his limbs and on a pile,
Ad manes fratrum, sacrifice his flesh
Before this earthy prison of their bones,
That so the shadows be not unappeased,
Nor we disturbed with prodigies on Earth.
