Now that some time has passed, did the KOTH reboot do well?
For the most part, yeah.
>>215675017
>>215675017its alright
>>215675237That post reminded me that people still think Bobby actually owns the restaurant, which tells me they havent watched the reboot but then why shill the reboot?
>>215675017The last couple of seasons of the original show were dropping in quality and the revival felt like a continuation of that trend. In some ways, it's impressive they could pick right back up where they left off after 20 years in terms of mediocre plotlines and character assassinations
>>215675269idk i think the point of it was more that of all the people the showrunners could have chosen to own the restaurant bobby is a part-owner of, they chose chane and ted. why? of all the characters who would have a reason to invest in a dallas restaurant, why pick bobby's bully and his father?
>>215675017as far as modern reboots or continuations go I think it did pretty well>>215675237posts like these were either made by people who didn't watch the whole season through or jumped the gun from drip fed news articles and interviews, the whole open relationship stuff with connie pretty much was outright shown to be worse for her and just a scheme for chane to sleep with other women. all things considered bobby has a pretty decent lot in life for a young dude in the 2020s
>>215675017it was slow to get going and i almost dropped it but it was worth sticking it out better than the worst seasons of the original run, which i think is about as good as anyone can do with a revival
>>215675367evidently he became a time lord or something at some point to because canonically bobby should turn 21 in 2006
Not trying to start le culture war skirmish but what the fuck was up with that Samoas bit? It felt so bizarre and I kept waiting for a punchline but it never came
>>215675511It showed that Hank and Peggy liked something about contemporary America. They're conservative people, but they appreciate being more conscientious about offending others.
>>215675577That's so stupid. Why would people be offended over something so innocuous like a cookie being named after them? I think that's why that line is so lame and stilted
>>215675415>better than the worst seasons of the original run, which i think is about as good as anyone can do with a revivalYeah pretty much. Judge actually managed to somewhat pull it off. B&B reboot wasn't bad at all either
>>215675685Why are you offended?
>>215675363Pretty sure it was done for the love triangle thing. Bobby technically works for Chane, who is going out with Connie, but Bobby likes Connie, meanwhile Chane is an asshole who fucks other girls etc.
>>215675685Lefites love being offended on behalf of others. It shows the world how virtuous they are
>>215675363it's funny because bobby wound up in a dynamic just like hank and buck strickland- he's still has a lot in common with his dad deep down.
>>215675017>>215675294It's more confusing trying to point out how long of a time period is between both shows. Technically the Hills were only gone 7 years. Bobby and Joseph are only 7 years older. But everyone else in Arlen seems to have aged way more than that. Good Hank was about 13-15. Hank was only 42-43 in the old show but now he is an elderly retired guy who looks to be in his 60s at least. The way he has no idea what is going on in contemporary 2025 Arlen makes it look like he was gone for the whole 20 year gap in series.
>>215675728i get that but the showrunners just took so many jabs at the dude that it seems intentional. like in OP's picrel when that girl calls him out the next morning on keeping his shirt on during sex. why? it has little relevance to the plot, its never mentioned again, and there's a ton of other ways to show bobby has body issues still. somebody really hates him on that staff.
>>215675781bobby is born on 1985. you can rely on some episodes like the millennium one and the george bush handshake one as close timestamps. bobby should turn 21 in 2006 and GH should be 8-10 years old around that time. they accelerated this forward to the 2020's to slide in modern jokes like COVID, social media, and le samoas.
So did the writers end up pairing poor Bobby with the slut or not?
>>215675747But it's so disingenuous and most people (I hope) can see right through that
>>215675831at the end of season 14 theyre starting their relationships. there are leaked storyboards that sometime in season 15 hank and peggy will catch them in bed. there's also a popular theory that the investment the hills eventually will make with their nest egg is to buyout chane and ted at the restaurant.
>>215675511Another aging boomer complaint type of episode like the racist black guy who said Bobby was cultural appropriating.
>>215675851Poor Bobby.
>>215675844CheckedGenerally normies can see it. They just don't do anything because a chicken that stands out and sticks it's head up gets it's head chopped off
>>215675017More progressive shit that Mike Judge has been pushing like alwaysI'd say it's recent with the new Beavis and Butthead making Beavis a poor victim of peer pressure and raceswapping characters like the Burger World manager but he's been doing it since back in the 90s with cuck Dale so it isn't particularly surprising honestlyI guess if you like this shit you'll like the reboot much like if you like Futurama you'll like the reboot as well, they're more of the same except with modern cringeworthy humor to boot
Judge had to share the writers room with a "diverse" writing staff and it's really obvious. It's desperately tries to capture the charm of the original show, but relies too heavily on clumsy references and callback jokes. Same thing happened with the Beavis and Butthead reboot.
>>215675826>bobby is born on 1985Fuck is Bobby old....
>>215675861That episode felt so bizarre. The lesson was something like don't judge a book by its cover and that people don't need to be of a certain race to do something they're good at, but the show changed Kahn's VA for another PRECISELY because it was cultural appropriation or some shit.
>>215676712Do people actually hate the Futurama reboot?Sorry, do people who still have joy in there hearts and watch comedies and laugh really hate the Futurama reboot?
>>215675685I'm researching the series again and I expected Hank to make a remark about how unnecessary it was to change the name, but not only did he not do that, he went full retard and agreed that the change was good. And this shit moment was supposed to represent how Hank accepts modern America.
The joke that most irritated me was the one where Peggy was in the hospital and the doctor could somehow tell she was kicked in the crotch once eight years ago. The most desperate and nonsensical callback I have ever seen. Know what would have been a much better callback and one that would actually make sense for the doctor to notice and point out? “Did your mom ever fall out of a plane and break every bone in her body?”
>>215675861The jap ending up being a black dude was pretty funny tho
>>215675851Peggy Hill anal scene when?
>>215675781I thought what you said as well but reading >>215675826 and it makes this whole situation even more retarded. And to think that I had some hopes for this """"""continuation"""""".
>>215675363Yeah, it doesn't make any sense. Chance's dad was loaded, he paid like 10k monthly or something to that asian golf club. It didn't make sense for him to invest in that restaurant, much less being only part owner.
>>215678032HO YEAH
>>215678014Yeah, that shit didn't make any sense
>>215675237Does Bobby at least do open mic nights on the side?
>>215676712>but he's been doing it since back in the 90s with cuck DaleAt least that was played for laughs and he was uncucked right? WRONG, it seems John Redcorn is back with Nancy in the new season.
>>215675017>Now that some time has passed, did the KOTH reboot do well?I enjoyed it and Paramount has already renewed it for 3 more seasons so it clearly had strong viewership. That's a success.
>>215678142>ParamountWhoops, meant Hulu
>>215675367>pretty decent lot in life for a young dude in the 2020sgrim
>>215678119>WRONG, it seems John Redcorn is back with Nancy in the new season. They're strictly business partners and only pretend to be a couple to help their real estate sales which was Dale's suggestion. There was no indication they're actually a couple again.
>>215678292The intro shows Nancy getting on JRC's car a few frames after Hank left
It was alright. The only bad part about it really is Connie sucks
>>215678260He's not wrong. I work 60+ hours and 2 jobs just to get by my dude. We straight up heading back to 19th century gilded age era dystopianism but gayer and with more consoomer slop
>>215678065From memory Chane is supposed to be the owner and running things but he's failed a bunch of his other business ventures so Ted is more involved than he otherwise would be. desu It makes sense as a business decision on Ted's part to give Bobby a stake in the restaurant. Remember Bobby has specifically traded a higher salary for points in the restaurant which only works out for Bobby if the restaurant is actually successful. If it doesn't he's worked himself to the bone for cheap. A great deal of restaurants fail in their first year so from Ted's POV he gets a motivated head chef and if it doesn't work out short term they've spent less than they otherwise would have on staff expenditure.
>>215678316Yeah, she works with him. I assumed they must have been a couple again when they showed the new intro, which I didn't like, but it was seemingly a bait and switch.
>>215675017My gf is from a trailer park and basically the IRL version of Luanne and I was disappointed shes not on the new 'boot.
>>215678507Probably because her and her husband's voice actors are dead. Though I guess they haven't refrained from replacing other characters so every chance her and Lucky show up again.
>>215678507I wonder how Luanne and Lucky died in universe. I'm guessing Lucky killed himself by accident in some way when he was trying to scam a company for more peepee money. After that Luanne fell into addiction and eventually overdosed on fent laced crack or something
it was fine
>>215675017the newest season of beavis and butthead mogged it
I enjoyed it, but they should really recast Khan i don't even complain about the voice being diferent but the acting itself was so fucking dogshit it kept taking me out of it. If you want keep using a true blue chinaman or whatever but at least one that can act please and thank you.
stop obsessing with slightly better than usual nostalgia cashgrab crap
>>215676777When are yall going to realize he’s a Clinton era democrat. He thinks the woke shit went too far but he also thinks all of you are retarded hicks. This is your muh based Judge
Was it better or worse than seasons 8-13? It's been a while since I saw those but my gut says it's better.
>Stiff animation>Minority characters are replaced by actual minorities >Plots are centred around le current thing>Even than it feels outdated like the show was written in 2018 Honestly it just felt too off. I just hate how the show is centered around pop culture. KoTH always had character driven stories
>>215675017Worth a watch for fans, absolutely.
>>215678550>Though I guess they haven't refrained from replacing other charactersMany of Dale and Redcorn's voicelines were recorded pre-death, plus they were already planned to be used in the season so they had no choice but to find replacements. Doubt they will talk or appear at all for the next season.
>>215678507Does she treat you well, anon?
>>215679785>yallFound the retarded negro, kys
>>215675237Bobby was always a whipping boy. Every success came with some level of failure or shame attached>He impresses a room full of people... by being such a fatass kid he wins a steak eating challenge that even adults struggle with>He turns out to have a natural talent for shooting... that triggers his dad's unresolved trauma, and he never gets to do it again>He finally gets to kill a deer, a rite of passage that all of his peers have completed... but it was secretly roadkill, not an actual hunt>He finally joins the football team like his old man... not as the quarterback, but as the mascot where half his job is getting laughed at and mocked>He gets a cute asian gf that likes hanging out with him... and then she dumps him and he makes a complete fool out of himself trying to get get her backPretty much every Bobby plot was him either embarrassing himself, or at best being really good at something slightly embarrassing. I'm surprised they didn't make him a full on cuck, next season they'll probably have his new gf and Connie have a threesome with Chane while he's having some big professional success. They just won't let him win.
>>215680077It’s a southern thing. They talk like us because well… you know.
>>215680077Found the faggot European who’s only knowledge of America is mass consumption of niggers.
Need more fanart of best girl Willow
>>215675017Completely unwatchable. Before I even made it to all the fucked up character changes the animation was horrendous. Couldn't make it through a full episode
It was great, apart from making connie a whore and some of the new voices being awful.
>>215680285The only people who complain about the animation are people who hate progress. It’s cheaper, more efficient, and better than anything they could rig up from 1990. >>215680292The VA’s are voiced by people with a similar backgrounds as the characters they represent so if anything it’s MORE accurate than what the original VA’s were. /tv/ is just too stupid to appreciate the advancements made in animation.
>>215680348>it's cheaper and looks worse>this is a good thinglol
>>215680365You need to let it go, the old animation is a lost format for a reason.
>>215680389It's lost because studios are obsessed with cutting costs anywhere they can. There's no reason animation can't improve over time, or at least retain it's quality. It didn't somehow become more expensive, they just found cheaper alternatives and don't care how it affects the final product.
>>215680159>>215680191Sorry anons, when I used the word "negro", I wasn't implying that the poster was a nigger, I was insulting the poster calling them a nigger because it's probably a pseudo-tranny
>>215680435You would prefer outdated primitive hand drawn animation over streamlined state of the art digital? You’re delusional.
>>215680389i will not let it go. it's a disgusting example of killing an art form just to save pennies. you should be ashamed of yourself for taking it on the chin and encouraging others to do the same.
>>215680489You long for a world that never existed.
>>215680348>if anything it’s MORE accurate than what the original VA’s wereWe don't care about it being accurate to real life, we care about it being accurate to the original series. They could find someone that looks identical to the character design, but if they don't sound the same and don't have the same acting skill, then it's the wrong choice.I don't care at all about the race of the voice actors, and if they want to racematch them all then go ahead. As long as they still sound like the characters we know and love, otherwise they're letting poltics get in the way of quality.
>>215680503it did exist and people like you killed it. for shame.
>>215680481Which looks better? Production value aside, which is more appealing to watch? That's the one I want them to use.Besides, hand drawn vs digital isn't even the debate, it's just budget. Digital animation can look amazing, but only if they're willing to put the necessary time and resources into it.
>>215680503It literally did exist, that's what we're complaining about. We're not comparing it to some imagined ideal version, we're comparing it to the older version of itself.
lol get trolled anons. Of course it was shit. Rip Kahn. And Mike Judges integrity.
>>215680696judge clearly only cares about beavis and butthead these days so i don't think he cares as long as he gets paid for voice acting
>>215680348Holy tranny
Western animation was better in the 40s than today if anything, it's amazing anyone still cares at all
>>215680724It’s just crazy that the same man who was autistic about picrel was so ok with them milquetoasting the fuck out of it.
>>215680779things change man, I think he just wanted to have fun and make money again
>>215680779I don't remember where I heard it, so it might be bullshit, but word was that Judge wanted the characters to grow and change throughout the series, and you do see evidence of that in the early seasons (Joseph's growth spurt, Buckly dying, Luanne dropping out of beauty school and going to college) but Fox squashed that idea to keep it easier to syndicate. I can imagine that's what made him check out of the series altogether and treat it like a paycheck.
>>215681048I hope it was worth it Michael. >Are we having fun yet?
>>215679792sameish but worse looking
>>215675017Nah it was shit. >GH was way older for no reason because they didn't know whether to make it take place in 2025 or 2018 and got confused>animation was beyond shit tier, even for a show about people standing around>Bobby's a gigacuck>Connie's a gigaslut who fucked a football team>Dale's voice acting was terrible even before his replacement, only made worse by the replacement>the only somewhat funny character was Joseph, who was entirely unchanged from the series>the show was too optimistic; trying to force the idea that the differences between right and left are in any way reconcilable like they used to be when the show originally airedIt was a sad reminder of how fucked a lot of things are, especially with animation.
>>215680779Akira Toriyama BTFO
>>215680115That's life for a lot of people, some never really win. The thing with Bobby though is he's mush, like we find out in the episode where Cotton tries to break him with military school and he couldn't. Bobby takes the shit life throws at him in stride and keeps going, he never lets any of that keep him down. For that he's better off than many people. It's a quality I wish I had in myself. And he did get to bone that cute vegan girl.
>>215680348Perfect goycattle
>>215675017was total shit and I don't say that lightly the whole thing was like an expired piece of bread just crumbling in front of my eyes.....
>>215678109>open micHuh? What are you talking about?
>>215675685who gives a fuck what other people think
>>215681850now thats what i call general haberdashery
my mom dropped its after 3 episodes and that's pretty telling all she does is watch shit tv,
