Would Hogwarts be able to stop a nuclear strike?
>>215684586Dont they literally put a giant forcefield around it in the finale movie? I fail to see how any conventional weapon can win against magic.
>coworker core question
>wave stick>turn incoming nuke into a bananaIdk, what do you think?
>>215684586Only the trannies would be nuked
>>215684621>Dean Thomas steals the banana>Filch puts him in detention>Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs burn Hogwarts to the ground in protestYou can't escape fate with parlor tricks
>>215684586Nobody would be able to target it in the first place. It's unplottable. You literally can't mark its location on a map.
>>215684586>wizards did nothing to stop the Cambodian Genocidelittle bastards deserve to get nuked. Could you imagine some little Cambodian exchanged student named Ping Pong or something getting an owl letter saying his parents got sent off to the rice fields?
>>215685082Can you read where the train line to it stops on the map to figure it out?Although I'm not clear how close the train stop is to Hogwarts, and maybe the line continues from that stop so even if the stop was marked you wouldn't know it's the Hogwarts stop, but if the line does stop anywhere near Hogwarts that's close enough to catch Hogwarts in the nuke
>Would Hogwarts be able to stop a nuclear strike?
>>215685837>Hogwarts that's close enough to catch Hogwarts in the nukeActually looking it up it might be like a 20 minute walk, a small nuke you might dodge the fireball itself at least
>>215685997Rowling's map of Hogwarts, the station is closer to Hogwarts than it is Hogsmeade but the train does continue on from there, if you know Hogwarts is close to Hogsmeade through finding Hogsmeade station you can probably do some decent damage.
>>215684599depends on whether or not wizards maintain a constant force fieldthere are plenty of conventional arms that will kill before you can react, and apparently wizards don’t typically know “heal your heart after being turned to mush” magicbut the truth is, Harry Potter is largely soft magic (ie obscure rules where anything can happen), so I’m sure wizards could just flick a Mach 27 hypersonic nuke away
>>215684648based
>>215684586Obviously. There is so much magic around the castle that it's impossible the detonator would go off. It would lsnd harmlessly in a courtyard and Dumbledore would mount it on a fountain or some shit.
>>215685837Muggles aren't even aware of that extra train line running through a major London train station.
>>215686490From what I remember it seems they were quite faithful to this layout in Hogwarts Legacy
>>215687008Yeah, that was such a good game. Hopefully they announce the sequel soon.
>>215687056Not sure if you're joking but after getting over my disappointment of the school sections not being copy pasted Bully, and switching to a female character, I really enjoyed the game. Comfy hp atmosphere with some zelda and fable mixed in.
>>215686856Its magic. Just have a permanent forcefield.
>>215687104No I was being serious. I was surprised how faithful the school felt the way it was described in the books.
>>215684586Nuclear weapons are actually one of the things wizards were worried about.>>215685082>Nobody would be able to target it in the first place. It's unplottable.>You literally can't mark its location on a map.but this>>215686915>here is so much magic around the castle that it's impossible the detonator would go off.and this. You'd have to get lucky with the blast radius being larger than the "anti-tech" effect the magic has, and not ending the world with the fallout created from carpet bombing an entire region to hit a single building you literally can't even put on a map.Even with magic, they might not have discovered radiation detecting magic, let alone anti-radiation magic yet. Wizard or not, they're still organic. Once the bombs go off, I doubt the "anti intruder / enchantment / anti WIZARD / MUGGLE defenses" would work as a convenient magic HEPA filter.
>one asian character >name them "Ching Chong Bing Bong"wtf was JK Chudling thinking?????
>>215687056It was mad comfy, my only complaint is that it didn't come out 20 years ago.
>>215684586Why aren't wizards ending wars and crime around the world?
>>215688200Because muggles are vastly superior hence the whole secrecy law following the witch hunts in the 1700s. Even Voldemort didn’t mess with it. The exposure of the wizarding world means it’s obliteration. It’s not just about raw firepower but muggles could decipher magic to control and abuse it.
In FB they've got wizard-hunting cowboys who can kill witches/wizards since they don't know how guns workThose that do can easily block bullets with their wands or use a force field spellThe Muggles separation was a result of Muggle technology slowly mogging wizard magic at the beginning of the Renaissance
>>215688438bullshit>put on an invis cloak or spell>cast imperio on every head of state and their cabinetsthere, you can do with muggles whatever the fuck you want. in a realistic scenario wizards would've waged wars against each other with muggle armies who are none the wiser
>>215688512That’s probably what grindelwald did with Hitler. Poor guy just wanted to be an artist.
>>215688490Wizards can just cast a shield charm on a hat or something and they'll be impervious to bullets. They don't have to know about guns or even be aware of the attacker. However, the charm would wear off over time so you'd have to re-up it now and then. And you could probably overwhelm it if you threw enough at it.
>>215687254clearly there is some cost to having the forcefield on, otherwise they would always leave it on
>>215684599Who says the forcefield is infinitely strong? Just because it can stop magic doesn't mean it can stop 50 missiles forever
A nuke is just electromagnetic and particle radiation. What is magic made of? Are there particles that exchange forces? There has to be something on a fundamental level. We can see the lighting, so there has to be a photon discharge of some kind, probably accompanied by emissions of other exotic particles. Or is it some quantum mumbo jumbo?
>>215688062based mommy rowling
>>215684586>Apparate somewhere in the Atlantic ocean>Accio Nuke>Disapparate.
>>215690545That's fucking offensive to the goblins
>>215684586If they knew it was coming, yeah probably. If it was a surprise attack somebody would need to have extremely fast reflexes down there.
>>215692042>If it was a surprise attack somebody would need to have extremely fast reflexes down there.>extremely fast reflexes down there. It's muggle vs wizard warfare, not the fucking pull-out method...
>>215685819If his parents were wizards, they would have no reason to worry about muggle nonsense like that.If they weren't, then that's what mudbloods get.
