>Another reboot of something that wasn't that big to begin with
>>
>Henry Cavill
>Armie Hammer

box office poison
>>
who the fuck cares about the man from uncle? stupid boomers think if they reboot some crap that theyre nostalgic for then itll just be an instant hit
>>
>>215689660
It happens shit movies becomes hit and good movies bombs time and time again.
Kino movie though
>>
>>215689660
>remember that tv show from the 60s
>no
>well Guy Ritchie made a movie about it
>oh
anyway its a good movie
>>
>>215689689
Next they'll think nonsense like Mission Impossible is makeable, crazy boomers!
>>
>>215689787
Mission Impossible movies were all piped liquid shit compared to the original show(s)
M:I should have stayed dead
>>
>>215689660
Too kino for mass consumption
>>
>>215689660
poster pretty much sums it up
>colosseum but RED
>random ghoul-woman staring at you behind it
>UNCLE
>bookie and gay man in suit
>confused women wondering where she parked her shit sportscar that's right behind her
>>
The movie was good for the first two acts but everything after Hugh Grant is introduced was kind of a lame way to conclude it. I don't know shit about the show so maybe I lack necessary context.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>215689660
It is quite simply too dull
>>
>>
>>215689672
It's always pretty easy to tell with a movie is made just to keep the rights to a property.
>>
>>
It was meant to be Guy Ritchie's audition tape to film a future James Bond.
It failed in that regard but it was unique in its own right by setting it in the 60s Cold War.
>>
>>215689660
I liked it
>>
>>215691672
this was the best she ever looked
>>
>>215689660
armie hammer has zero charisma and guy ritchie has never been a successful blockbuster director. he can run a set but none of the action sequences that get a lot of money spent on them ever look very good
>>
>>215689660
Idk, it works great as James Bond knock-off and it is the best Cavill has been on screen ever, anyhow Guy Ritchie hasn't made a good movie in 15 years.

I'll be honest, I kept waiting for it to get good and I just ended up falling asleep. Bizarrely boring movie. Also Armie Hammer shouldn't play Slavs.
>>
>>215691864
Yes, I only like the first Sherlock Holmes, Snatch and Lock, Stock, the 2nd Sherlock and this one are okish at best, I think the main problem is the oversaturation of this crap with Bond and Kingsman.
>>
>>215689660
As usual, the plebs can't appreciate this kino that made Armond White wrote a celebratory essay on the film
>>
>>215691684
>ywn get drugged and raped by 'bicki
fuck this gay earth
>>

The title. "Two for The Man from U.N.C.L.E., please."

Honestly Man from Uncle is a really fucking stupid and also gay name that almost certainly turned people off before they even knew what it was about.

If they didn't make an effort to call it Ian Fleming's Solo they really fucked up.
>>
>>215689831
Now that's just contrarianism, some of the movies blow that snorefest out of the water.
t. grew up with the show
>>
>>215689660
Bad timing, Russia and the US working together to overcome fascist remnants was never going to fly in 2015, when NATO were funding fascist remnants to kill ethnic Russians in the Donbass while vilifying Putin's Russia.
>>
>>215689660
I don't know. It's pretty great.
>>
>>215691715
Yes, Vikander and Debicki both look their absolute best in this.
>>
>>215689660
Arnie Hammer literally eats women.
>>
I can't get over this. The title sounds like a childrens movie except it also makes you think of incestuous gay sex which turned me off so much that I only years later even realized that it's actually a spy film.

Only this thread made me look it up and realize that it's apparently a serious movie based on characters by Ian Fleming and while they could have pushed that hey this is a serious agent movie just like James Bond from the same fucking guy they named it Man fucks his Uncle because someone enjoyed a shit show 50 years ago.

So yeah that's the reason it bombed. Honestly I don't even care if it's a good movie, I simply don't want to watch a movie called Man from Uncle and neither does anyone else hth.

I think you are projecting your fantasies a little too much.
>>
>>215693934
Well it certainly didn't make me think of hot women and special agents.

He did want to eat people though.
>>
>>215694160
did he actually eat people?
Friedkin said he'd be a serial killer if it wasn't for the movies yet nobody is cancelling him

Armie Hammer and Henry Cavill are box office flop kings
>>
>>215689660
The best time to make such a film would have been in the 90s to tap into the people that were young when the original aired then being of age and nostalgic.
>>
>>215689660
it had feminine women and masculine man and it was very old fashioned.
maybe thats part of it.
>>
It's a good film, I don't care about Vikander though.
>>
>>215689660
cause it was garbage
the only good part was DĘBICKI and vikander
dębicki was really great in it
>>
>>215689660
Breddy gud movie
Didn't know Guy Ritchie made it, that's kinda a bummer
>>
Armie Hammer bit Guy Ritchie during a table read for U.N.C.L.E. 2 so they canned the whole project
>>
>>215689660
I watched it in theaters. It was okay. I didn't regret buying the ticket but I don't have any desire to watch it again or recommend it to anyone. It's not good, it's not bad, it's nothing.

>not A Royal Affair
>>
>>215689676
They got the dynamic all wrong for the leads. The suave cocky American with the cool, calculating 'chess master'. Cavil just didn't manage to have a quarter of the charisma needed to pull off his role and somehow Armie managed to be far more endearing as the robotic Russian superhuman. OK movie but better leads could have made it sequel worthy.
