What was /tv/ like 20 years ago, in 2005? What were the most memed shows and movies back then?
>>215692073L O S T
People bought a lot of DVDs. It was pretty cool that every movie had a "menu", many audio tracks, subtitles and extra material.
>>215692073whatever was on adult swim for /television/for /film/ it was mostly people quoting comedies like Dodgeball or Anchorman, or sex comedies like Eurotrip.Lost and Office were gigantic with the mid 20s-60s group. That 70's Show was pure kino.
>/tv/>2005
>>215692073The Simpsons had a huge online presence from the beginning days of the internet, and Family Guy has been the go to thing for people to list as their favorite show since MySpace was a thing. Obviously South Park was huge too. I remember a lot of people having Cartman and Kenny avatars back in the day. 2005 was around the time Adult Swim really got popular too, I remember Aqua Teen Hunger Force being huge. It seems like they really blew potential with that show, but now they have Rick & Morty.
/tv/ wasn't a board yet anon.
>>215692887It’s true. All of it.
>>215692073It was called /b/ and it was awesome.
People used TV.com.
>>215692885>>215693486>>215693520This. No /tv/. No /co/. No /pol/. There was only /b/ for that.
>>215692073JUDGE FUDGE POWER HOUR
>>215695457Is having multiple boards for every single topic a good or bad thing for an imageboard? Would it be better without /tv/ from an objective user happiness standpoint?
>>215692073Something Awful (proto-4chan) had a tv board and the only thing I remember from back in the day was people posting while watching the Shield and freaking out when Shane dropped a grenade in Lem's car.
No one even pretends to be oldfags anymore...
>>215692073We never knew how good we had it Drawn together fans.>>215693520I want to go back.
I migrated off of /b/ to /v/ when Pokemon D/P came out, and then expanded to /tv/ around 2010 or so. This place is immensely worse now than it was then.
>>215697320The issue is everything became so purpose driven. No more place to just fuck around, talk and laugh about anything. b became a porn board, soc a sex board and pol a misery board.v/ is over run with off topic threads that are constantly getting banned. I think it benifit everyone to have a v/ and a vb/. Instead of banning the threads they would just get transfered over.
>>215697607Gamergate in 2014 drastically changed the makeup of this place. Plus pic related.
>>215697679Is that not the purpose of /bant/?
>>215692073I didn't get here until just after Project Chanology started and even then people were just fucking around on /b/ mostly. /tv/ had not gotten legs yet but it was there. both boards were fucking dogshit, just not quite as dogshit as they are today. I blame Indians, giving them internet access was a mistake.
>>215697718I was thinking that. I should check it out. I just know it as the place where all the poverty schizos from biz migrated too which doesnt excite me.
it didn't exist until like 2007 at the earliest. I remember when it was created
post the oldest image in your /tv/ folderthis is from 2010, I have older images but they are nsfw
>>215692073Been here on and off since 2007, it was 95% waifu threads and the remaining 5% were about TV shows airing at the time. AnnaSophia Robb, Evangeline Lily and Summer Glau was the queens of /tv/
>>215696857I'm far too busybeing delicious
>>215697800what I wouldn't give to have my original 4chan folder before my computer died in 2011, but I didn't know or care about cloud storage back then
>>2156977762006 iirc. it came with /ck/ and /mu/ and a couple of the other hobby board fixtures.
>>215692887>I remember Aqua Teen Hunger Force being huge. It seems like they really blew potential with that showThe start of Season 5 was really rough and Season 8 was borderline unwatchable, but the rest was pretty good if you like absurd humor. I'm not counting Plantasm or Season 12 because it hardly counts as the same show
