That's why Resurrection was a flop, people no longer cared about the series as a series. And why should they if it's just going to be Ripley bumbling from planet to planet leaving everyone dead in her wake like she's stepped off the first two seasons of Lexx.. As a result of Alien3 we didn't get a standalone Alien movie between 1998 and 2023. They were relegated to the supporting monster in movies that were really about Predators and Engineers.
Alien 3 is straight up great to the point Golic sets the so called dragon loose. But then there is endless running in the corridors that brings the film down.
