Because it was created by a legitimately good director/screenwriter (guy who made Michael Clayton, wrote the Bourne movies)

The fact that he had pedigree also gave him the authority to make a show on his own terms rather than being a tool for the Kennedy/Favreau/Feloni slopocracy. I'm sure they were seething that this show mogged their Glup Shitto kiddy garbage

Just a good story about what Han Solo would have been : A cop killer, a smuggler, then get caught and go to prison, escaped, participated in a revolution, kill an innocent in cold blood (the driver) then die a hero in the film.
