Because this board is predominately populated by zoomers - a generation that needs everything explained to them in the most direct, blunt and up-front manner. ANY kind of symbolism or situation that is ambiguous irritates them to no end, because they have no tools to process it and thus get frustrated and whinny.

It's often pretentious; the movie is made inferior to make some stupid point which is what the writer or studio or whoever really wanted to get across, not taking their film seriously
That said I don't think this is true all the time. In the case of Cabin in the Woods, I really don't care.
But I get why it rolls eyes sometimes
I also believe that without some layer underneath, a lot of art is pointless
