I don’t really understand what this board has against symbolism. I usually only see it brought up here with hatred or derision.
It was a bone-chilling slow burn that still managed to subvert my expectations through a spine-tingling mélange of thrills, chills and spills. I think it's safe to say that kino is back on the menu.
>>215998868no it wasn't, it was a comedy movie
>>215998843Because this board is predominately populated by zoomers - a generation that needs everything explained to them in the most direct, blunt and up-front manner. ANY kind of symbolism or situation that is ambiguous irritates them to no end, because they have no tools to process it and thus get frustrated and whinny.
>>215998843It's often pretentious; the movie is made inferior to make some stupid point which is what the writer or studio or whoever really wanted to get across, not taking their film seriouslyThat said I don't think this is true all the time. In the case of Cabin in the Woods, I really don't care. But I get why it rolls eyes sometimesI also believe that without some layer underneath, a lot of art is pointless
